By day, mild-mannered Dexter is a blood-spatter analyst for the Miami police. But at night, he is a serial killer who only targets other murderers.
Dexter on average kills one person a month, which means he has accounted for roughly 15%-20% of the murders in Miami from 2006-13 (there were anywhere from 59-79 murders a year during that time frame). However, Dexter's murder victims are often reported as missing persons.
Doakes thinks he knows my secrets. But he only needs to look at this - my body of work - to know the real me.
In the main title, there are lots of "continuity errors", where you can see the same things being done over and over again. This is clearly intentional from the producers, as it shows that Dexter is following a strict routine, doing the same things every morning.
