- Mr. Rogers: [after unsuccessfully making a rainbow] Well, Mr. McFeely knows a lot of things about stuff like that, I'm gonna call him.
- [Picks up the phone and dials]
- Mr. Rogers: Mr. McFeely? Oh, am I glad you're there. I've been trying to make a rainbow. I thought I could do it with a flashlight and some spray. Yeah, just water spray. Didn't work. Projector? Yes, I have a projector. Yeah, and some white paper too. Oh, could you come over with that now? Oh, I see. What about the gold? Mr. Aber is not there yet? Okay, nothing seems to be working out right today. All right, well, I'll see you a little later then. Thanks, anyway.
- [Hangs up the phone; Singing]
- Charles R. Aber: I brought this special attachment for the plane car.
- Lady Elaine Fairchilde: What sort of attachment?
- Charles R. Aber: Well, it's supposed to make rain.
- Lady Elaine Fairchilde: Who would want rain in make believe?
- Charles R. Aber: I guess King Friday.
- Lady Elaine Fairchilde: Oh, he's the goofiest king I ever heard of.
- Mr. McFeely: Now for the experience, We need a projector first.
- Mr. Rogers: I have it in here.
- [Takes the projector out of his closet]
- Mr. McFeely: And a screen. Well, We can use this pad as a screen.
- [Grabs a drawing pad]
- Mr. McFeely: And we can set it up in the kitchen. Ready?
- Mr. Rogers: I am ready!
- Mr. McFeely: Right this way to the kitchen.
- [They go to the kitchen]
- Mr. McFeely: Well, We can put the projector to the table and,
- Mr. Rogers: [as place the projector on the table] This is where I tried my rainbow experience and just did not work.
- Mr. McFeely: Now we will try it. Let me see, Oh it's not high enough! Maybe, I know! How about blocks!
- Mr. Rogers: Blocks? Okay!
- [as he brings out a bag of blocks out of the cabinet]
- Mr. McFeely: And I will plug the projector in. Just set them on the table shake them out.
- Mr. Rogers: [as he shakes the blocks out of the bag] Is that enough?
- Mr. McFeely: That's fine, I will set it in a minute! We just have to raise the projector up. Just a little bit. These shall do it. And will put the projector on top. Now, I have special thing I want to show you. What I have in my pocket is a prism.
- Mr. Rogers: Wow, It looks like a plastic to me.
- Mr. McFeely: Well, It is cut plastic. Let's pretend it's a raindrop.
- Mr. Rogers: Raindrop?
- Mr. McFeely: Yeah, a raindrop. And light of the projector is the sunlight. That's you see rainbow from the raindrop. Now we can turn the projector, Oh! We need to turn off the lights.
- Mr. Rogers: The switch is on the wall.
- Mr. McFeely: Yes, There's the switch.
- [He shuts the lights off]
- Mr. McFeely: . And we turn on the, There's the switch
- [Turns the projector on]
- Mr. McFeely: . Now, hold the screen up.
- Mr. Rogers: [as he holds the screen] Wow, That's beautiful! Look at all those colors!
- [after make-believe]
- Mr. Rogers: In that contest, everybody got to enjoy the prize. What a make-believe rainbow that was! But, of course, make-believing is sort of like dreaming, isn't it? What do you think you might dream about a rainbow? Lady Elaine would probably dream about gold in the rainbow. Mm-hmm, that's all that seemed to be on her mind.
- Handyman Negri: But how can there be a rainbow today?
- Lady Aberlin: Yes, how can there be a rainbow without any rain?
- King Friday XIII: Mr. Aber is the only person who can answer that.
- Charles R. Aber: How do you like the prize, Ana?
- Ana Platypus: Oh, I like it, but it's really big.
- Charles R. Aber: Well, most rainbows are.
- Handyman Negri: But how did you make a rainbow without rain?
- Charles R. Aber: Well, first I tried the rain attachment, and that didn't work. Then I thought, anything is possible in Make-Believe, so I pretended a rainbow, and that did work.
- Lady Elaine Fairchilde: Well then, I'm just going to look for the pot of gold that I have always heard was at the end of the rainbow. Haven't you heard about the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow?
- Lady Aberlin: Yes, but I've never seen it.
- Lady Elaine Fairchilde: Neither have I, but I am going to have it. You can have the rainbow, I will have the gold.
