. . . shaken OR stirred. THE BOND COCKTAIL uses the adult mixed drink as a figurative metaphor of Agent 007 stew, as in a recipe for mayhem. My favorite quote comes from Shirley Manson, the lead singer of Garbage, who helped warble the theme song for THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH (the third of four James Bond flicks starring Eon Production Company's James V, Pierce Brosnan). "The entire time I felt unworthy; I did my best--what can I say?" Ms. Manson reveals, adding that crooning a Bond theme was a life-long dream of hers. The first part of her quote seems like it just as easily could have come from Brosnan himself, if not from James II (Australian male model George Lazenby of the ruffled shirts and plaid skirts). Alas, Pierce smugly asserts that "Doing this the third time around is comfortable." The rest of this 23-minute piece is a real hodge-podge of material, including MONTY PYTHON comedian John Cleese on his brief term as "R," Q's short-term successor.
  • A fascinating documentary of the Bond style during filming of the 19th in the official EON James Bond series-The World is Not Enough. So not only is Pierce Brsonan interviewed, so is Sophie Marceau, Denise Richards, Robert Carlyle, Judi Dench, Samantha Bond, Desmond Llewelyn, director Michael Apted, producer Michael G. Wilson, some of the technical crew, and John Cleese who made his first of two appearances in the Pierce Brsonan entries. I liked his dry wit when mentioning how he thought Pierce was wrong for the role and he's trying to get it himself! It also showed some clips from other Bond entries to illustrate the similiarities and some differences of them. Well worth seeing on the TWINE Blu-ray or DVD discs.
