- Zane: I've been looking for you. You are not going to believe this.
- Rikki: Uh... I believe you told me to leave you alone. Is this about to start into an apology?
- Zane: There are mermaids. I've seen a photo.
- Rikki: What?
- Zane: A photo. There's more than one of them out by Mako.
- Rikki: Where did these photos come from?
- Zane: Dr. Denman. She's got these underwater motion-activated cameras for counting fish.
- [smiling:]
- Zane: I was there when she downloaded the big one. Look, we can't tell anyone... yet. But I have to tell you. Isn't it great?
- Rikki: [without conviction] Yeah. That's amazing. Congratulations.
- Cleo: And if we stayed, we would have...
- Rikki: ...we would have been in the circus by now.
- Emma: Or sushi.
- Cleo: What can we do?
- Rikki: Do we have to leave town?
- Lewis: We really gotta help them, Miss C.
- Miss Chatham: Yes, you are right. Those people are never going to let you alone.
- Emma: So, it's hopeless?
- Rikki: I don't believe that. If we can fight, we should fight.
- Miss Chatham: Or... maybe you should just... give up.
- [the girls aren't happy with this suggestion]
- Miss Chatham: Your powers, that is. Of being mermaids.
- Lewis: They can do that?
- Miss Chatham: Only at special times. Very special moments. Like tonight. As I said, it's not just any full moon.
- Lewis: [realizes] Tonight's the lunar eclipse.
- Miss Chatham: Exactly. The full moon is one thing, but the lunar eclipse, makes it very special. If you were in the Moon Pool during the eclipse, it would draw away your powers.
- Rikki: [shaking her head] No way. That's no option. We haven't gone through everything we have, just to throw it all away.
- Zane: [looking down at girlfriend revealed to be mermaid] How... is this even possible?
- Rikki: It's... a long story, and from memory, you don't really have the attention span for that.
- Zane: You could have told me.
- Rikki: [wry smile] See, there's where you're wrong. You were the great mermaid hunter. Shooting your mouth off about mermaids every chance you got. Telling you wasn't an option. I thought we had something, Zane. Something bigger than this. But obviously I was wrong.
- Zane: No, you weren't.
- [shakes his head]
- Rikki: [waits for guard to pass] Then do something.
- Zane: I can't. It's too late. My Dad and Denman won't let us go now. It's out of my hands.
- Rikki: [icily] Fine. Forget it.
- Zane: Rikki...
- Rikki: [disdainful] Zane, don't. Right now, you and all your friends disgust me.
- [pulls back, swims off]
