Synopsis

  • The episode opens with Lincoln beating the crap out of Wyatt in an unsuccessful attempt to get him to call the General and say he has killed Lincoln and Michael. Michael doesn't think having Wyatt lie to General will work even if the call is made, while Bellick is concerned how long they will be able to keep Mahone from killing Wyatt, given that he murdered his son.

The General tells his associates that he wants Scylla moved to Raven Rock Bunker because the Scofields know of its Los Angeles location. This process will take three days, The General is told, followed by his requesting that The Company "saturate" the media with Lincoln and Michael's names.

Self tells Michael Glenn's body has been taken care of. Michael details the passageways below GATE they will have to follow to get to The Company's offices and Scylla, though there appears to be an "impediment" of some kind. They still need Gretchen's pages to go the rest of the way and Sucre wonder about her angle.

Michael, Lincoln, Sucre and Bellick go to the closet in T-Bag's office and head down into the tunnel. T-Bag reminds them to be as quiet as possible just before his boss comes in asking about the resignation of Blauner (the co-worker of T-Bag's Gretchen killed a few episodes back). The boss says ominously he will "look into it." T-Bag calls Gretchen to tell her of this development.

Mahone starts to lose it and Self has to physically keep him from going after Wyatt, eventually pacifying him by telling him his own wife and child died during labor. Wyatt continues to bargain with Sara, who leaves the holding area without biting on any of his deals.

Moving though the underground hallways, Michael, Lincoln and Sucre find that one of the L.A. water supply's main conduit pipes runs across their path and they will have to dig underneath.

T-Bag meets with a Detective Mara who is looking into Blauner's disappearance. The detective tells him Blauner's car was spotted leaving the building with a woman at the wheel. While T-Bag attempts to imply Blauner could have been sleeping around, the conversation is interrupted by the sound of the diggers below.

It appears that the diggers will not be able to get through the floor and under the giant pipe, Michael suggest that maybe "we can go through it." Sucre begins cutting into an adjacent pipe as Bellick and Lincoln leave the area.

T-Bag tells the detective the issues between him and Blauner were insignificant. Bellick and Lincoln barge out of the closet and into the office just as T-Bag's boss enters the room. An explanation about T-Bag having hired men to re-do the closets is offered, though the detective appears suspicious.

Self has figured out a way to use taped recordings of Wyatt's voice on a laptop make the call to the General. With that taken care of, Self and Sara leave Wyatt alone with Mahone, who has gone to the ambulance outside for "supplies." Mahone now has a car battery and a defibrillator. Mahone tells Wyatt he will suffer for what he did to his son and mentions he needs Wyatt to make a phone call for him, as well.

The General gets the call from Self, who uses the Wyatt recording to trick the General into thinking Wyatt has killed the entire Fox River group. Just as the General tells his associates the Scylla-moving and public information plan won't be necessary, Gretchen walks into with her gun drawn. "I knew you'd come home," the General tells Gretchen after clearing the room.

Moments after Bellick and Lincoln cut-off the water through the conduit, Michael tells Sucre they have an hour to cut through the pipe. Seemingly the plan is to thread a smaller pipe (or sleeve) through the middle of the larger one to use as a tunnel. Before they begin the work Michael starts having flashes (Oh no, not the brain!) and slumps over against a wall. After the break Michael doesn't tell Sucre much about what's wrong with him, just asking him to "cover for me."

The General and Gretchen discuss their history together, telling her he had to find out what she knew about Whistler and Scylla. Gretchen says "you should have believed me," but before we know it the soft-talking General has taken the gun from her hand is kissing her open-mouthed on the lips. "My girl," the General calls her.

Mahone begins torturing Wyatt by shoving needles into his finger tips, telling his victim that he will be shocking Wyatt to make he feels every bit of the pain. Mahone says Wyatt's pain will only go away when he does what "I've asked you."

With Michael resting (and struggling with his vision), Sucre has blowtorched a circle into the near side of the main pipe and is measuring the far side. While working on the far side Sucre runs out of blowtorch fuel and the two begin finishing the second hole with sledge hammers. Bellick and Lincoln return, announcing they heard on the radio that the water will be back on in ten minutes.

Mahone finally gets Wyatt to call his ex-wife and say he is sorry. Mahone gets on the line and tells her "it's over" and "I love you."

The General tells Gretchen she should come back to The Company. Laos has "worked perfectly," and soon the leaders of the military, finance and industry will rebuild the country in their own image. The General said he will have Gretchen be his No. 2, "as I promised."

Mahone drives Wyatt to the waterfront, shoving him off the pier with his hands shackled around a cement block. (Anyone want to bet Wyatt is actually dead? I don't.)

Having reminded himself that Blauner had looked into his sales files, T-Bag has his secretary look up his records. Passing his suspect records off as Blauner's, T-Bag shows the fishy numbers to his boss, suggesting the best thing to do is get rid of the detective and cover everything up so as to avoid the IRS.

The rod the foursome had been using to help thread the sleeve through the larger pipe breaks just as they start to hear water on its way. With seemingly no way to get the job done, Bellick jumps into the main pipe and helps lift the sleeve up and into the far hole, in the process blocking both ways out of the pipe and sacrificing his own life. "You have a son," Bellick tells Lincoln before the water takes him away.

The show ends with the General saying that despite the Scofields being dead, he will still move Scylla out of Los Angeles to be safe. Did Bellick's great sacrifice go for naught?
