  • Happened to watch "Savarkhed: Ek Gaav" when it was aired in telly (Zing). It must have been at least two decades since I last watched a Marathi movie. However I have changed my perception after watching this one. The Marathi Film Industry has been on step-motherly treatment for quite a while owing to which it slipped to the extent of extinction. However "Savarkhed: Ek Gaav" proves that there are serious minded people with noble intentions. The quality is on par with the rest of the Indian Cinema.

The plot is not the usual run-out-of-mill - the writer/ director has ensured to present a product addressing the social issue of contemporary times. In addition he has sprinkled adequate doses of suspense and scare.

Performances from the actors is top-notch. And it seems more popular personalities like Shreyas Talpade, Vikram Gokhale, Sadashiv Amrapurkar, Upendra Limaye have stepped in as a attempt to salvage the Marathi Film Industry.

Verdict:: An honest and a brave attempt which deserves due recognition.
