Nineteen-year-old Alice returns to the magical world from her childhood adventure, where she reunites with her old friends and learns of her true destiny: to end the Red Queen's reign of terror.
For the character of the Jabberwocky, Sir Christopher Lee had originally tried to make his voice 'burble' (as described in the poem "Jabberwocky"). However, Tim Burton convinced him to use his actual voice, as he found it more intimidating.

The cake that makes you bigger is called "Upelkuchen". It is odd that it contains the German word for cake, "Kuchen", yet it is pronounced in a completely un-German way (kut-chen). This seems rather to miss the point of the name, as it makes no sense without subtitles.
In the opening credits the Cheshire Cat can be seen smiling in the form of a cloud overlaying the moon.
