  • Locarno 2019 #5: At first, the core of "L'Île aux oiseaux" is the insecureness which incarnates protagonist's naive heart. But gradually, the sublimity appears with austerely static shots like Bresson weaved. Then, it transforms into silent sinisterity which creeps at the other side of the screen. Ostensibly just subtle and subdued, but actually this audacious film has kaleidscopic premonition for apocalypse. Oh god!
