- The Chase is a short film where Hope P. Indangasi takes us through domestic violence and their effects. She gives an example of behavioral change applied to a wide variety of human traits and characteristics, including gender and domestic violence. Her example goes further by mentioning how both can occur as a result of a shift in human behavior and negatively impact the victim of the abuse. This type of violence can affect people on every level of existence. However, this film focuses on abuse directed towards females. By using giving an example, Hope P. Indangasi aimed to demonstrate the prevalence of gender and domestic abuse by examples. NOTE: This did NOT happen and is not based on the character's true story. She further incorporates of how oppression and gender violence are still prevalent all over the world, and studying how the different societal tactics of direct and indirect violence has affected women in the past showing how inequitable power dynamics adapted to keep the 'status quo' in evolving cultures. The consequences of domestic violence, both physical and psychological, are so devastating that some consider it a form of torture. Domestic violence affects not only battered women and their children, but also the entire community. Due to the prevalence and pervasiveness of domestic violence in nearly every part of the world, communities must react with a comprehensive strategy incorporating advocacy, legal reform, and education to combat the problem. The film's aim is to show on innate perpetuity of abuse that women have been victims of and the catalysts that cause an intimate partner to become a perpetrator of domestic violence. This film was written by Lucal C Wesker in order to understand the interconnectivity of violence and these catalysts.
