Taking a small cast and a simple context, this is a short that is surprisingly rich in its handling of a typical "modern family" situation. The mother is desperately keen to enjoy her time with the best new boyfriend in a while, but needs to maintain the relationship with her borderline-sulky teenage daughter. So they are all together on a short trip.
Interestingly, the platonic and mutually respectful relationship between the boyfriend and the daughter is the one that dominates, leading to what I felt was a very satisfying ending.
