Either I’ve been staying on top of my homework or 2015 has been an exceptionally strong year for film scores already. From blockbuster disappointments to indie oddities and mindless action sequels, film music has once again shown it can transcend its respective dreck just as much as it can enhance the cinematic experience. With film festival season on the horizon, let’s check in with the best movie music of the year:
8. Chappie — Hans Zimmer, Steve Mazzaro, Andrew Kawczynski
Neil Blomkamp’s movies seem to be getting worse, but Hans Zimmer’s sensibilities are getting more exotic and daring. Course-correcting from the massive publicity stunt that was The Amazing Spider-man 2, the master of bombast continues to experiment with digital textures, recruiting pupils Kawczyksnki and Mazzaro for a score that humanizes and contextualizes the childish perspective of its Robocop with a heart of gold.

Last seen in One Two Three and Hijack in 2008, Esha Deol is set to return to the golden screen in her home production Tell Me O Khuda, produced and directed by mother Hema Malini, which releases on 30th September.
The starcast includes father Dharmendra, alongside vetrans Vinod Khanna and Rishi Kapoor, whilst Esha co-stars with Arjan Bajwa, who was last seen in Crook. The good news is that Salman Khan will also grace the film with a special appearance, as he has been close to Esha since the release of their No Entry in 2005.
Ask Esha what it was like working with her father and she gushes: “…it was a dream-come-true to have Papa in the movie with me…the chemistry between Papa and me is, touchwood, really awesome.”
The story revolves around Esha’s character as she undertakes a journey to Rajasthan, Turkey and Goa along with her friends...

Shiney Ahuja's last film Hijack may have bombed at the B.O. but instead of sitting and brooding over it, Shiney has moved on big time. In fact Shiney is all excited these days and the reason behind it is that he has just signed his first Hollywood film. The film in question is Silver Cord, a romantic sci-fi thriller that has Shiney playing the lead role along side Hollywood superstar Val Kilmer. What is however most interesting is the fact that unlike other Bollywood actors who have played mostly Asian characters in Hollywood films, Shiney will be seen playing an all-American character in Silver Cord thus becoming the first Indian actor to do so. Silver Cord is directed by James Ordonez and produced by Mark Canton (of 300 fame), Michael Shane and Anthony Romano (producers of Catch Me If You Can). Apparently, director James Ordonez first came across Shiney...
