Opinion from a Dialysis Patient.

I am a 30 year old on in center hemodialysis and have had end stage renal disease requiring dialysis for shortly under a year. I don't get just the extreme amount of hate I am seeing here. Sure some things aren't 100% accurate. Some jokes fall a little flat but what do you expect honestly. It is a fully competent show and I've laughed more than a few times. Anything that puts kidney disease in the spotlight is a plus, and could maybe inspire someone to be a live donor to someone that needs a kidney, like myself. I hope this show continues for a while.

Going to stick with it.

I never expect a perfect pilot episode. I think it had some funny moments. I will watch and hopefully the laughs and stories will grow. Don't hate on it so soon.

Decent

This lacks the freshness of other Chuck Lorre shows like The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men, but it seems ok. It is basically the story of a man in need of a kidney and finally finds one in a party girl from his past. I think it could pick up steam given some time and its creator.

An OK show to watch - not as bad as reviews say

I watched this after reading some of the negative reviews. In response to those reviews the laugh track is not that noticeable and the show is at least a step above the typical fair that doesn't grab your attention or last long these days.

I found it very watchable for 20 minutes of light entertainment and I watched all of the first six episodes over a weekend. Not all the dialog consists of one-liners, there are some nice serious moments and the comedy is only occasionlly cheezy.

If something like 2 Broke Girls deserves a 6.7 and 138 episodes then this deserves at least an 8. I would actually give it a 6.5 and 2BG about a 3. 2BG was just a series of badly written, over sexualized one-liners with actors that couldn't help but advertise they were about to deliver a zinger each and every time. Enough about that show, but it is annoying that something higher quality can't get any traction in comparison.

Not hysterical- but still funny

I like it. It's entertaining with likable characters. I hope it at least gets a couple seasons.

Funny characters

Taking a bleak health diagnosis and giving it some humor. I am very entertained by these characters and the stories and writing on this show and also happy they aren't in my life-LOL. Hoping this last more then one season.

Surprisingly Good!

I wasn't sure about this when I heard the premise, but I was pleasantly surprised. I'm a big fan of Kether Donohue from You're The Worst and Thomas Middleditch from Silicon Valley. Annaleigh Ashford's Gina character is super lovable and reminds me a lot of a personal friend. Love the character developement and the writing. All and all it does have positive vibes that we all need right now and a message of altruism and general kindness that does leave you thinking more about what's right with the world - those individual kindnesses that no one sees by everyday people.

Looking too healthy for dialysis patients?

In truth, I only caught the last 10-15 minutes. I LOVED Annaleigh Ashford in "Kinky Boots." And "Mom" is a favorite show. So with such a short watching time, I can't really review except to say - do people on dialysis look so incredibly healthy?

Love this quirky little show!

There are annoying parts, but the hubby and I love the cast and story and the crazy opening! I like quirky stories....they make TV so much better! We really hope we get a second season.

A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down.

Mother died of Kidney failure in both kidneys (didn't want transplant). I find so called "canned" laughter helps allow me to laugh more. I also like lip-synced live performances. The donor Gina is fun and almost trust worthy. Characters do grow somewhat.

Really grows on you

I was definitely thrown off by the intro and premise at first, but I was drawn in by Annaleigh Ashford's endearing character. I hope this one lasts because death should be up for discussion and I think they do a great job of breaching the topic and how we should be grateful for what we already have in our lives.

Most of the user reviews are based solely on the first episode

I don't normally like CBS laugh track comedies. Despite this, I began watching this show (somewhat skeptically) because Thomas Middleditch was in the lead role. To my surprise, I liked Annaleigh Ashford's character the most. She has a mischievous, manic energy that's just over the top enough to be charming but not so much that it becomes obnoxious. Early on, Middleditch's character was closer to the obnoxious end, and while the supporting cast was good, they seemed like they were just satellites orbiting the two core characters. Initially I would have rated the show a 4 or 5.

However, the writers have started to make positive changes, and as a result the show has started to find its heart. They've pushed the ancillary and one-note characters to the background. They've made Middleditch's character more likable, and started to find reasons to involve the wider cast in the plot. And Rosa Salazar was a great addition to the cast (hopefully her role isn't too temporary). All in all, good progress and I hope the show gets another season to continue to find its footing.

Took Me A Few Episodes, But I Find It Endearing Now

It took me a bit, but I find the show really endearing now. It's a regular watch for me.

The main characters are pretty good. I initially found Annaleigh Ashford really annoying. But after a while, you can't help but start to like her.

As the second season has progressed, it's lagged a little. But there are new, interesting characters and situations, so it's never boring.

Give it a chance. It's just nice. And nice is good this these days.

There may be potential.....

Can't quite decide about this, I'm only on the eighth episode so maybe it gets a better, I'm giving it a chance. I'm finding it very hard to like Drew, there's just nothing appealing about him. Gina's great though.
