At the Gazette, Lois and Chrissy try to figure out why Morgan has come to Smallville and is sticking around. Lois figures that Morgan needs Smallville, and says that they need to dig deeper. She figures that Clark can help, and they information from Lana on everyone Morgan has recruited. Then they work together and piece everything together.
Morgan tells his visitor, Emily, that he has found a place to change the world, with people like her. He says that he understands her fear and stress, and with his help she can make her fears go away by improving her. All she has to do is acknowledge the life she has isn't the one she wants.
Emily is placed in a c cylinder and undergoes a painful treatment. Afterward, a scientist tells Morgan that they have complete host acceptance. Morgan tells Emily that in a few days the process will be complete, and then her life will be hers again.
At the Kent farm, Lois and Clark discuss Morgan. Lois has heard from Lana that Morgan has asked her to find more candidates, and they need to convince people to stay away. Clark warns that's unlikely when Morgan is offering people jobs, and Lois figures people will listen to Clark because they won't listen to hers. Jonathan and Jordan come down, and Jordan says that they were going to be out late seeing Sarah's revue. Clark points out that Jordan is spending a lot of time together with Sarah, and Jordan says he's just trying to support her. The others aren't convinced, and Lois says that she'll leave it up to Sarah to tell Jordan if she wants them to be more than just friends.
The boys leave for the school bus, and Lois prepares to meet Lana at the Gazette. Before she goes, she tells Clark that people will listen to him because he's Martha Kent's son.
At the Gazette, Lois and Chrissy meet with Lana. She says that the candidates only seem happy, and only knows that Morgan is doing trust exercises with them. The only other thing Lana knows is that they're having get-togethers at Victory Mays: comraderie-building breakfasts. Lois suggests that Lana discontinue her involvement, but Lana would rather help anyone.
At the school, Kyle is dropping Sarah off. He calls the Kent teenagers over and thanks Jordan for helping Sarah out with her audition. Once Kyle drives off, Sarah says that Kyle has had a personality crisis and telling her that he's changed. Sasarah notices Jonathan eyeing Tegan, and advises him to stay away.
Clark goes to Victoria May's, and Emily is there and greets him. He asks her about Enercorp, and Emily says that it's changed her life and she can deal with problems she couldn't handle before. Emily tells Clark to check with Lana if he's interested in working at Enercorp, then excuses herself and leaves.
Clark hears bank robber in Matazalan, Mexico, flies there, and bursts in the door as Superman. He shoves them aside, shrugging off their bullets, and throws two shooters off a balcony. As superman clutches at his chest, gasping for breath, another shooter opens fire on him and he drops to the floor.
The shooter pumps a clip into Superman, and then tells his fellow robbers to hurry up. They grab the money, and Superman rises up and knocks the remaining robbers out. The customers applaud, and Superman tells a guard that he'll be okay and speeds off.
Lois returns to the Gazette, and Chrissy tells her that Morgan has bought more ad space for more candidates. Baring into a conference room, Lois tells the candidates that Morgan wants to erase who they are and replace it with something else. Morgan has the candidates leave them alone, and Lois tells him that he knows he's placing Kryptonian consciencenesses in human bodies. Morgan points out that she doesn't have any evidence, and points out that more people will believe him then her.
Lois insists that people aren't puppets, and says that the Gazette isn't publishing his ad. Morgan says that word-of-mouth will have to suffice and tells Lois that she can't stopped it, and perhaps she should call in Superman. However, he notes that superman might join forces with the Kryptonians. Leslie comes in and Lois escapes.
At home, Clark is applying ice to the bruises that the bullets left. When Lois arrives, he wonders if it has something to do with the gas Rosetti used on him.
In the school gym, Jordan plays piano for Sarah as they rehearse. She asks him if he has any other secrets, and thanks him for being there for her. Jordan says that he want to be there, sneezes, and discovers that he's sneezed out a handful of ice dust. He quickly leaves and sneezes again, and the ice covers his hand. Clark arrives and when Jordan shows him his hands, Clark realizes that his son is infected as well.
At home, Clark and Lois tend to Jordan and Clark explains that the bioweapon gas Rosetti used on him might be a virus. Jordan says that he's not that bad, gets up, and sneezes again. Sam comes in and says that the gas was intended to only weaken Clark temporarily. Lois puts out that Sam's "temporary" weapon is hurting Sam's grandson, and Sam says that his people are working on it.
Jonathan finds Sarah outside the gym before the revue, and she says that Jordan ran out in the middle of rehearsal and hasn't come back. Jonathan tells Sarah that Jordan didn't leave because of her, and goes to find his brother.
Lana approaches Emily and asks her how the program is going. Emily says that Morgan's process is a genius, and Lana asks what the process is. The woman says that Morgan insisted she not tell her. As Lana tries to get Emily to talk, Leslie talks Lana to Morgan's office and leaves her there. Morgan knows that she's been spying for Lois, and Lana says that she hasn't told Lois anything.
Lana asks Morgan about the process, and he says that it's an offer that he made to Emily and is going to make to Lana... and it will impact her room.
Jonathan returns the home and finds Jordan in his room with Clark and Lois. Jordan wants to be with Sarah rather than abandon her like Kyle did, but Lois insists that her son stay home. Clark tells him that he can't go anyway until they don't know what is going on with him, and the gas is affecting Jordan differently than it did him.
Jordan sneezes again, freezing a nearby lamp, and says that he's having trouble breathing. Clark says that they can't wait for Sam and flies off. Sam is outside, and sees Clark go. When Lois comes out, Sam asks his daughter why Clark left and she says that Clark is doing what Sam can't. Sam insists that the gas was experimental and they didn't know what the effects would be. Lois tells her father that she thought Sam was doing the right thing, and once they had a family Sam might put them first. She says that she was wrong, and she can't forgive Sam endangering the people she loves. Lois tells Sam that when it's all over, she wants him to leave and not come back.
Clark flies Jordan to the Fortress and tells Jor-El what happened. Jor-El says that fluid is filling Jordan's lungs, and the only way to get the Kryptonite out of Jordan is the same way they've done with Clark in the past. Clark holds Jordan and says that they have to use extreme heat to burn the Kryptonite out of Jordan. Jor-El trains beams of heat on Jordan.
Lois stares pensively out the window and blames herself for not keeping Jordan safe. Jonathan comes in and tells her not to blame herself, and Lois wonders why it's too hard to keep her sons safe. Her son says that it's part of being a super family. They hug and Jonathan tells his mother that Clark will figure something out like he always does.
Kyle and Lana arrive at the revue and sit next to Emily. As the revue starts, Lana whispers to Emily that Morgan explained everything to her and it makes perfect sense. Sarah comes out to perform first, looks over at the empty piano, and says that she can't do it. Kyle comes up offstage and starts accompanying her on a guitar, and Sarah sings. When she finishes, everyone applauds and Sarah runs to Kyle and hugs him.
At the farm, Jonathan joins Sam on the porch. Jonathan asks Sam why he built weapons to hurt Clark, and Sam says that his job is to keep humanity safe so he has to prepare for any possibility. Sam tells Jonathan that he and him aren't like Clark and Jordan, and admits that it scares him. Jonathan tells his grandfather that they're not alike, and he could never be scared of his family no matter what powers they have. He tells Sam that he would trust his family no matter what, and Sam would still be a coward.
Sarah and Kyle join Lana, and Sarah thanks her father for helping her. Emily's daughter Avery is singing, and she gets up and walks out, telling Lana that she'll be right back. Kyle follows Emily out.
Leslie talks with Morgan about the bank robbery, and Morgan says that he's activated some of his subjects to harm the ones that Superman protects.
Jor-El finishes burning the Kryptonite out of Jordan, as Jordan moans in pain. Clark tells his son that he's proud of him.
Sam is in his SUV, learning that his people haven't come up with an antidote for the gas. Sam says that he hasn't tested the prototype because "he" wasn't in the mood, and notices someone approaching the house.
Inside the house, Jonathan and Lois wait for Clark and Jordan to return. Lana calls Lois and tells her that she saw Emily acting differently, leaving in the middle of Avery's performance. It was like Emily was someone else.
There's a knock at the door, and Jonathan goes to answer it. Meanwhile, Lana tells Lois that Morgan made her the same offer as the others and she turned him down. Jonathan lets Emily and one of the other candidates in, and the entity in Emily tells Lois that Lois shouldn't have called.
Emily unleashes her heat vision, and she and the other candidate cut off Lois as she tries to run. Sam comes in and uses the bioweapon on Emily and the other man. As they collapse, Sam tells Lois that he'll try to hold them as long as he can.
Jonathan and Lois go out to the barn, and Jonathan gets one of the guns he stole from Irons. Kyle arrives and says that he came from the revue, and Lana was scared
In the house, Sam beats the two pseudo-Kryptonians and tells them to stay down. Emily finally knocks him out and tells the other man that they'll deal with the targets first.
At the Fortress, Clark apologizes to Jordan because everything that is happening to Jordan is because of him. Jordan points out that Clark didn't ask for what happened to him, and Clark hugs him. They then speed back to Smallville.
The Kryptonians burst in, and Jonathan shoots them with the gun. Kyle is also possessed, blasts the gun out of Jonathan's hands, grabs Jonathan and Clark by the throat, and says that Morgan wanted them to suffer before dying. Superman flies in and knocks Kyle through the wall, and confirms that all three Kryptonians have slipped away.
Back in the house, Lois talks to Sam as the DoD soldiers secure the farmhouse. Sam admits that what Lois said earlier was true, and admits that he wasn't there to protect Lois the way that a parent should. Lois notes that Sam was there, and Sam says that he couldn't let the Kryptonians hurt this grandson or his daughter. He tells Lois that his family and Smallville is his priority, and Lois says that the war Irons was talking about is probably going to have to happen.
Jonathan and Jordan talk to each other in Jordan's room, and they talk about what happened. Jordan wonders what they're going to tell Sarah, and Jonathan says that he doesn't know.
Kyle returns home, and Lana and Sarah are waiting for him. Lana has Sarah leave, and Kyle says that he isn't drinking and he blacked out. He woke up in the middle of a field, hurt. Lana asks him if Morgan made him an offer to improve himself.
-----
Leslie takes Kyle to Morgan, and Kyle says that he wants to be his best self.
-----
Kyle tells Lana that he wanted to improve himself for Lana and their girls.
Chrissy calls Lois and tells her that she kept digging and found something but doesn't know what. Leslie and the man who attacked the hotel are from Smallville. Clark and Lois confirm that all the Kryptonian-possessed Kryptonians are from towns where Morgan has had operations.
Considering, Clark points out that when he landed on Earth, meteors crashed to Earth. The X-Kryptonite landed in Smallville, and the people there have been exposed the longest. The couple realizes that Morgan wants the people in Smallville that have been exposed to the X-Kryptonite, not the X-Kryptonite itself.
Clark hears Lois' ELT go off, figure Morgan has it, and speeds off to the Grand Canyon where Morgan is waiting for him. When Superman attacks Morgan, Morgan slaps him away and says that he got his powers the same time as Superman when he arrived the same time. Morgan is wearing a black Kryptonian outfit with the S on it, floats into the air, and calls Superman "brother".
