I was hopeful after the first Sonic film that they wouldn't attempt to transform the franchise into a massive money making machine, but after grossing more than $300 million worldwide, the sequel clearly tried to follow the Marvel blueprint. This resulted in the introduction of numerous new characters that they failed to develop, and lessened the screen time given to the dynamic between Sonic and Tom, a key element that gave the first movie its refreshingly intimate feel. The writing also struggled with the significant expansion of scope, though James Marsden's brought sincerity to his character as usual. There were a handful of amusing moments sprinkled throughout, but the second entry in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise failed to meet even my lowest expectations.

Sonic, Tails and Knuckles, also eggman are done right, but the stupid hollywood cliches and terrible kids movie tropes ruin it. The first 70 minutes is awful and the movie would be better if you got rid of the human characters and made a real Sonic movie. This movie is overrated. This isn't a good kids movie either, I would've disliked this if I was a kid watching this as well. Towards the end when they get back to actual Sonic locations it becomes fun again and the end of the movie is a lot better than the beginning and middle. The movie as a whole is very bad, if they make another one they need to get rid of the human characters besides Eggman.

Felt sorry for Jim Carrey, a movie like this after a career like his. And he is missing in a big part of the movie. And this movie is just too long. Too much action without a clear story.

Alright this movie is terrible it is by far the worst movie I have ever watched! I can't believe this got made the cgi is horrible and the wedding scenes are just stupid WHY!!! I can't stress this enough stop making so called woke movies! Hollywood just messes up movies these days.

The characters are unlikable, the acting is horrible, and the movie itself is just corny and cringe. Tails was so pointles and straight up annoying, Knuckles was cool. The only good thing about this movie was Jim Carrey, love that guy. The first one was definitely better.

I'm writing this review to get rid of my frustration after watching it on TV on a Sunday evening. Is this the best that they could come up with? I don't understand what audience this movie was aimed at. Feeble minded adults? Bored teens? I definitely wouldn't let young kids watch it. It's probably going to trigger another hoard of stupid YouTube videos of wannabe's trying to hurt themselves. Carey's mustache was too small - I could still see his face. Can he please retire now? It was an extremely lame move, especially the humor. The only redeeming aspect that I could find was the special effects. I suppose this is what happens when movie producers run out of ideas and turn to games for ideas. Seriously lame - the end.

Sonic The Hedgehog 2 has finally succeeded on making in my opinion one of the worst sequel ever made, i'm honestly a bit surprised at how extraordinarily bad it turned out, is this really what Sonic fans wanted? A dull kids adventure packed with bad acting and an absurdly stupid plot?, it's frustrating, none of the scenes really that work, except a few in the beginning and in the middle and also few from Carrey's possible improve, the rest was atrocious, i can't wait for the film to be over, they seriously can made this to be at least entertaining, instead, i'm left with this stupid plot experience, dreadful performances, and an unbearably long two-hour runtime that felt like an eternity, it's trash, if you can somehow enjoyed it, good for you, but i absolutely hated it.

I'm astonished that they managed to knock out another film in such quick succession, but then there's no accounting for taste or popularity. This is exactly on par with the first one, a stupid, flatulent and headache-inducing mess of a film that's been made by kids, for kids, by the look of it. There are new allies, new villains and another meandering story about Sonic having to 'grow up' while he battles the evil Robotnik. I actually like Jim Carrey in these films, he gives the right pantomime performance, but the rest is just a mess, particularly the voices emanating from these CGI abominations.

This film is meant to be fun which it is but the performance of Dr Robotnik by Jim Carrey is horrific and in all honesty pretty hard to watch, I have played the Sonic days since the first realise and Dr Robitnik was never portrayed this way and its a crying shame the director went this way. Shame on you Jim Carrey for destroying cherished childhood memories.

If it wasn't for Jim Carrey's Dr Robotnik I wouod have scored this film much much higher.

An awful movie with lots and lots of scenes that one cannot explain with logic. I am not asking about them using everyday logic we use in real life to write down a fantastic movie of course, but most of the things happening doesn't even make sense in their universe's logics and rules. It can be argued that this is an animation movie directed for kids, but even that isn't enough to save this movie. I couldn't stand finishing it after seeing all the stupidity in the first half of the movie. A total waste of time. The first sonic movie was way better than this one. At least most of the things in that movie were explainable and making sense in its own context.

I really liked Sonic, so I thought of would, either like Sonic 2 just as much. If not more.

But, I wasn't feeling it, I want to fast forward, & turn it off

It's too long, way too long.

There's many scene that just.... Feel unnecessary.

There's characters in the movie that feel unnecessary, and they are in the movie way more than they should be pointless stuff in this movie.

The story is not good

It's too family friendly, so comes off corny and lame, which is what I thought would be the case for the first film, but that movie had the perfect balance. Really felt like it was for everyone. I didn't get that with sonic 2

I didn't even find Jim funny. Or least not nearly as much as I did with the first movie.

There is about as much need for this cartoon to have a sequel in a theater as there is for a new strain of Covid. It belongs on the Cartoon channel along with all the other cartoons posing as movies. It has the added distraction of also being a mindless video game, so the producers of the film can share the profits with the creators of the video game. Good for them; enjoy the money. But please do not suggest this production is anything more than a marketing and sales promo, because that is precisely what it is. Now you get to spend $20 of your hard-earned money taking your kid to a theater to see something you can easily see on a cartoon channel for much less. I am reviewing this cartoon only because I have free passes and a young son who is not a moron. He thought the film was boring, and I have to agree.

BRIDEZILLA, TAILS, KNUCKLES, JIM CARREY, WHAT MORE DO YOU NEED sonic does not go through meaningful growth, neither does his human man companion doesn't either. So many of the fights had simple solutions that they DIDNT DO cause sonics powers are not well defined. Why doesnt he just RUN away or use his slomo mode all the time? But we dont watch sonic to make sense, we watch to have FUN, and my god there is a lot of fun! If you just let yourself be along for the ride youll have a good time.
