Daddy hauls a young Kay out of their farmhouse, and she begs him not to, clutching at her stuffed animal, Harry. He puts her on the edge of an old well, tells her that she knows what happens when she disobeys Daddy, and tells her to get into the well's bucket. Crying, she does so and Daddy lowers her down into the well. Crying, Kay yells that she's sorry but Daddy ignores her and walks away. She drops Harry into the water below and tries to take it, reaching out. Harry sinks below the water.
The Underground, Now
The young Kay sits on the edge of the train tracks, while Jane tells the other alters that Scarlet and Lucy Fugure have both gone missing, and their stations are closed. None of the alters have an explanation, and Jane figures that it's no coincidence. Miranda arrives and asks what's going on, and Jane says that they were all fine until Miranda showed up. The elder alter asks if Baby Doll and Flaming Katy are fine, and Jane says that they died but they didn't disappear. Undeterred, Miranda says that Jane doesn't recognize hope when she sees it. She says that the two alters moved on and tells the alters that they're finally starting to heal.
Jane doesn't believe it, then reconsiders and wonders how. Miranda says that healing is the job of the Primary, to help Kay move forward, and says that she's good at what she does. Jane asks Kay if she's getting better, and Kay says that she wants Harry. Jane wonders who Harry is, and Miranda says that Harry is Kay's stuffed animal. The Secretary adds that for a long time, Harry was their only friend but they lost him. Jane says that they should find him, and the Secretary says that he's in the real-world well. Miranda tells Kay that it might better if they leave Harry in the past, and move forward. Jane offers to recover Harry, but Miranda says that they can't go back and risk the progress they've made.
Pretty Polly agrees with Miranda, but Kay says that she just wants Harry. Jane tells Miranda that she's still the Primary, and if Kay wants Harry then they get Harry and it's not up to them to question Kay. Miranda wishes Jane luck and Jane leaves the Underground.
