  • 'The Pink Panther' "Pink of the Litter" (1967)

Opening thoughts: As far as 1967's previous Pink Panther cartoons go, 'Pink Panic' was throughly enjoyable and 'Pink Posies' was great. 'Pink of the Litter' is even better than those two and is one of the best of the 1967 Pink Panther cartoons. Would go as far to say that it is one of the series' best, as well as one of the funniest and most imaginative. Quite a lot of my childhood favourites have held up very well and are as good from an adult perspective as from a child's. The Pink Panther cartoons- most that is- are one such example, and 'Pink of the Litter' is one of the best examples.

    Bad things: Nothing.

Good things: Everything. First and foremost, the animation is kept simple but never looks cheaply drawn and the bright colours have an appealingly wild nature that fits very well with the everything else. The music is appropriately jazzy and still memorable.

The iconic theme tune is one this reviewer has heard countless times but it has still stood the test of time wonderfully. The gags, revolving around mainly how Pink sweeps the streets, are hilarious and are among the most imaginative of the Pink Panther cartoons.

Humour-wise like with almost all the Pink Panther cartoons, Pink of the Litter is solely reliant on sight gags with no dialogue but in no way is it a deterrence. The story is always fun and while wild in nature never verges on weird. Pink is a naturally funny character and is also very cool and likable.

Closing thoughts: Overall, funny, colourful and imaginative, a winner from the Pink Panther.

    10/10.
