When Al Ruddy meets Francis Ford Coppola to discuss The Godfather project, George Lucas is clearly in the background with several other individuals.
The Offer takes out a chunk of history as it glosses over George Lucas' involvement in the making of the Godfather franchise. The failure of THX-1138 bankrupted Zoetrope Studios. Lucas encouraged Francis Ford Coppola to make The Godfather to fund their studio. He served as an assistant editor on the film, including finding footage of the empty hallways of the hospital. Marcia Lucas encouraged Coppola to cast Al Pacino as Michael. Lucas was a massive part of the franchise's success, but is relegated to a background character with his ex-wife, Marcia Lucas.
The series reunites several of the cast members from HBO's Band of Brothers: Colin Hanks, Ross McCall, Frank John Hughes, James Madio and Kirk Acevedo. Additionally, the director of this series, Dexter Fletcher, was also part of the cast.
Throughout the series, characters say many of the iconic lines from The Godfather like "I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse", "It's not personal. It's strictly business", and "Never let anyone else know what you're thinking".
Armie Hammer was originally set to play Al Ruddy but was replaced by Miles Teller after he admitted to being "100% cannibal."
