Fantastic acting by Igor Bencina. Who was born and raised in an urban environment in Serbia, simply must have met a guy like 'Maki'. His acting made the character really relatable. The movie has elements of commercial entertainment and storytelling, the ending is not the proper one, but overall the directing is great and the movie is above expactations. Great music as well.

The idea behind this story is a very good one.

The characters, especially Maki, Deni, Caki, Soni were for the most part very good and relatable.

But for some of the scenes as a whole I feel like there is half of it missing.

The human side of some of Denis and supporting actor scenes, are either cut short or very static and emotionless in a sense where it seems like they know each other for a couple of days instead months or years.

There is a flashback scene where Deni and his first manager meet for the first time and then it all falls apart, just like that? No aftermath at all?

    It feels cut short.

Also he tells Deni after a phone call they will talk about it later.

That "later" never comes they just terminate the contract with few words exchanged and that's it.

At the beginning it felt like he got him the success.

There is so much lost story potential.

I expected an ending with his coach and first manager taking him to the big league and getting together with his childhood sweetheart.

They kinda build the story towards it.

Instead we get very lazy ending sequences of all characters leaving important things open to probably shove us a TV series down our throat.
  • I would rather watch some random guy, milking his cow for 2h, than watching this film again. Donate all the income to charity and get a better plot next time, just whatever...
  • This movie is so fresh and new on Serbian movie scene. It is also very emotional, you can realy feel special bonding between 2 leading actors. Acting is perfect. Cinematography spot on. I really hope there will be a part 2.

    Bravo!!!

I went to watch with really high expectations, sadly i got disappointed. Initially the idea of the movie is to show the level of corruption in Serbian football, but movie fails to show any of that. Instead we get a really confusing story that leads nowhere. Movie is filled with scenes that make no sense and characters that have no development. Overall, i want my time back.

Depicts the reality of our society, where talent often gets destroyed by greed. Worth watching as it will make you think about a lot of things, football, politics, business and dirty money.
  • This movie lives on its famous actors, story is one of the worst ever written, the whole topic of the film was to show a perspective young and talented individual be destroyed by crime in Serbian football mafia but the movie just failed, one of the worst movies and worst written and directed movies I've seen. Ognjen Jankovic, the film director is a famous musician who I respect very much for his music, and I really had high hopes for this film, but it just did not live up to my exceptations and I am very sorry for that. I hope he makes another movie becouse I think he just got lost in this topic and did not produce it very well.

Golden boy is a movie that doesn't even seem interesting initially. I believe this movie to be a failure and that no one should watch it. That's why I'm reviewing it without watching.

    1/10.
