  • Now Veronique is completely alone on the doomed island ; however ,she felt a mysterious presence around her ; didn't the sisters and Honorine talk about old ceremonies, druids who would cut the mistletoe with their golden billhook and whose gods would demand human sacrifices ? The heroine can feel them , these enemies all the more dangerous since they are invisible .

An unexpected ally comes in the shape of a dog called Aramis (in the book, the name was "tout-va-bien" ="it's-all-right ", but changing it was wise, given Veronique's predicament ); thanks to him , she will be able to get in touch with her child ,and her private tutor (Philippe in the miniseries, Stéphane in the book , why?) prisoners of "them".

There are melodramatic but effective scenes: Veronique and the son she lost when he was a baby separated (literally) by a wall ; the heroine and the teacher who has always loved her in the chamber of death ,a facile trick.

But then again , both prisoners hint at "they " ; "they come at night,we never see them" Who are they? Why this evil which does not seem to ever end?

Two of them appear in the flesh in this episode ,but a third one, even more terrifying, waits for Veronique in the priory: cliffhanger indeed!
