  • For Penthouse Video, Guy Capo made many a sociological porn feature, glib and empty. This one is set in 1988 and tries to show us the swingers' scene of the era, set at the title sex club run by Steven St. Croix. Capol trots out a series of cliches that never ring true, not even on the level of a show about Plato's Retreat or similar clubs.

There's a lot more story than usual for these Penthouse vignette shows, with St. Croix popping pills and on the verge of being arrested by the feds, while a couple of obvious undercover cops (Chris Cannon an Roxy DeVille infiltrate the club. Despite all the story and character development, Capo can't resist tossing in a completely extraneous sex scene with Dane Cross and Jayden James that sticks out like a sore thumb.

Rayveness as St. Croix's swinging wife brightens up the show, but it's phony from start to stupid finish, with an abrupt, unsatisfactory ending, followed by title cards telling us what happened to each of the main characters post-1988.
