It's a quirky tv show to binge watch in your spare time. Plus it's always nice to see Bruna Marquezine and Manu Gavassi on screen! Even though the plot isn't flawless and you can't expect much, it's still comical, refreshing and worth watching. There's room for a second season as many questions are left unanswered, i hope they will renew the series for another season. If you are in the right mood for a soapy Brazilian drama i recommend it, but don't have high expectations. Maybe one of the problems of this series is that there are too many plotlines to be developed well, but it's full of drama, gossip and secrets.

SMCC4413 September 2022I cannot believe Netflix produced this series. Had to shut if off after 10 minutes, totally unrealistic, terrible acting and choice of actors. Another disappointing Netflix original. Gone are the days when Netflix used to make decent movies and drama series. Now, most of them are full of socially correct, diverse background actors, LG scenes, foul language, drugs, and smoking. It seems to show up in all the Netflix originals. We often think of canceling our membership but there are enough third party shows, like Heartland, Marcella, Collateral, Disappearnace at Cliffton Hill, and some Netflix originals like Ozark, House of Cards that convince us to stay. Prime is giving Netflix good competition with far better originals.

I always wanted to watch a português series because I am learning português....so i started to search on google about good brazilian shows on Netflix and saw Maldivas!!! I saw it and Wow!!!! I forgot about the learning português but i could only pay attention to the characters in this series. Everyone has a different essence. I love the plot. Every character was justified. This is a light mystery very subtle but engaging. Just like sex and the city meets agatha christie!!

When Manu Gavassi (Milene) left Big Brother, the singer, who made everyone laugh saying she wanted to be a villain, confessed she wanted to make her own series. The brazilian nation, already captivated by her charisma and marketing skills, smiled happily when Maldivas was announced. Knowing that Bruna Marquezine would be in this project with her friend increased fans expectation about the show.
I admit I was skeptical. After so many bad brazilian series, not only on Netflix, I was raised knowing our way of making TV. But I also knew Natalia Klein talent way before Manu started singing. The screenwriter and narrator already had my heart.
This show is good because of the ideas, the lines, the small details and because, instead of a didactic novela style, it fits in a worldwide known genre. You won't be surprised by the plot, the raised questions will certainly be guessed quickly. But you will laugh and enjoy - and if you are brazilian you will get more jokes. -

The show mostly takes place on the grounds of this apartment building as the episodes progress, but the actors are spectacular and I never got tired of watching them.
Each of them is a fascinating character, with various romantic relationships, friendships, and solidarity between women, and the transitions and complexity of their feelings were wonderful to watch.
The mystery part is also well put together and I was so engrossed in the film that I finished it in about two days.
I am waiting for season 2.
