Fun A-Plot, Okay B-Plot, Terrible C-Plot

I enjoyed the drug trip surprisingly, and seeing tense relationships temper down and be replaced by potential friendships. But I'm black, and Simon's upcoming arc annoyed the crap out of me. The A.I. thing is based on a real occurrence, but they never articulated if the problem was due to a lack of black faces imported into their algorithm, light recognition that was only calibrated to faces with higher exposure, or something else otherwise easily fixed making this a careless oversight. Or that perhaps, it ISN'T an issue that's easily fixed, and it's an innate reality of the technology that darker skinned faces will struggle in it. Instead, they insist it's exclusively due to the racial makeup of the board, implying that the tech issue is perhaps easily resolved but was just ignored by the bosses (and yet presumably can't easily be fixed now by drawing their attention to it) Because honestly, it'd be easy to prove the flaw in their system even just as a civilian. Heads would roll just as they did in real life, and there's no reason they wouldn't fix it, certainly after being caught. (assuming it can be fixed).

Simon could certainly be annoyed at this development, but to feel like he's been attacked in his soul? Who wrote this? And Mo telling him to leave was ridiculous too. As much as Mo loves to call out white privledge, I'm surprised he didn't call out his business partner for turning down a vital investment just because his daddy didn't "believe" in him.

Drugs are not ok

This series had a terrific first season, and an ok start to the second season. This episode was very disappointing in many ways. The whole Zoey taking drugs to show her rebellious side is so out of character for the girl we've grown to love up to this point. Even sadder was that Zoey never showed remorse for doing something that she is against that had some consequences. The writers made light of taking drugs, making it appear as though it was a fun experience. The Zoey we know would never compromise her principles like that.
