Sadie Sink has had one of the hardest jobs in Stranger Things. After a hugely successful first season, her character Max was introduced in season 2, and Sink had the pressure as a child actor to join an established and hugely popular cast. However, she slotted in seamlessly, becoming one of the show's most beloved characters. Max will play a key role in the show's fifth and final season.
In the end of season 4, Max was left in a coma following a big battle with Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower). Her state was precarious, but she'll no doubt recover and rejoin the fight in the show's ultimate showdown. "They love having me run," Sink told Variety when asked about whether Max will find herself in a better way in season 5.
From her relationship with her brother to the terrors of Vecna, Max's journey so far has been an emotional rollercoaster. In fact,...

If smelling like the early 1800s — before indoor plumbing — was just not for you, perhaps Netflix’s next hit-series-inspired scent will be. But also, probably not.
As part of Netflix’s ongoing partnership with Bath & Body Works, the streamer and the retailer have launched a “Stranger Things” collection. “Stranger Things” x Bath & Body Works boasts 15 limited-edition products — but we’re here to talk about three of them.
The first of the fragrances is “The Upside Down.” Because who would not want to smell like that barren, decrepit alternative universe overrun by vines, bats, and demons. Maybe don’t put this one in your guest bathroom.
The Upside Down scent has “notes of mossy stone, smokey birch tree, and eerie fog Fragrance.” The packaging, too, is inspired by the Hawkins woods. Ok, so it’s earthy. It could still be better than the Michael Jordan Cologne — but what the hell does “eerie fog” smell like?...

Netflix has greenlit a new horror series that counts “Stranger Things” creators the Duffer brothers among its executive producers.
The series is currently titled “Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen” and hails from writer Haley Z. Boston. The official logline describes the show as “an atmospheric horror series set at a wedding, following a bride and groom in the week leading up to their ill-fated nuptials. That’s not a spoiler – just read the title…”
Boston created the series and also serves as executive producer and showrunner. The Duffers and Hilary Leavitt executive produce via Upside Down Pictures. Andrea Sperling also executive produces. Both Sperling and Upside Down are under overall deals at Netflix.
“We’re thrilled to collaborate once again with dream partners Matt, Ross and Hilary to bring this unexpected and spine-tingling story to life through Haley’s uniquely riveting vision,” said Peter Friedlander, vice president of...

Maya Hawke, who portrays Robin Buckley in the hit Netflix series “Stranger Things,” has provided fans with an intriguing update on the show’s highly anticipated fifth and final season. In a recent interview on the “Podcrushed” podcast, Hawke shed light on the ambitious scale of the upcoming episodes, suggesting that viewers should prepare for a cinematic experience.
“We’re making, basically, eight movies,” Hawke revealed, emphasizing the substantial length of each episode. “The episodes are very long.” This statement aligns with comments from producer Shawn Levy, who previously described the final season as “major, major, cinematic storytelling that happens to be called a TV series.”
Production on the final season, which began in January 2024 following delays caused by the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, is expected to continue for approximately a year. Hawke attributed the lengthy production schedule to the showrunners’ commitment to quality and their hands-on approach to the writing process.

If you’re suffering from Eleven withdrawal, fear not: In Oscar-nominated filmmaker Juan Carlos Fresnadillo’s Damsel, Millie Bobby Brown is entering a different kind of Upside Down. As the determined and courageousElodie, Brown flips the script on the traditional fairy tale as a princess whose happily ever after is brutally interrupted when her Prince Charming sacrifices her to a dragon. Forget what you’ve heard about tales that begin with “Once upon a time…” — this damsel has only herself to rely on.
“She’s a damsel who doesn’t need to be saved,” Brown told Netflix. “She saves herself in many ways. It subverts what you expect: You’re expecting the prince to turn around and save her, and… no. Don’t wait for the prince.”
“What I really loved in the script from Dan Mazeau was embracing the idea of a fantasy adventure and a princess and dragon story,...

The fourth season of "Stranger Things" was the definition of overstuffed; with multiple genres and settings and a sprawling cast of characters, the show stretched the boundaries of epic storytelling almost beyond its limitations. With more than a year of retrospect, some season 4 plotlines are forgettable, while others are still lodged firmly in our hearts and minds.
But no plot was as universally embraced as Max's, the heartbreaking depression storyline that put actor Sadie Sink's name in award show contention and catapulted Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)" back up the charts. Max entered season 4 feeling broken, plagued by grief and survivor's guilt over her brother Billy's (Dacre Montgomery) death. In the fourth episode's emotional climax, she faced off against a hallucinated version of Billy possessed by the monster Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower), and it was the most powerful moment of the season if not the entire series.

After the huge success of "Stranger Things," it's no surprise Netflix would want to stay in business with the Duffer Brothers. And as that show heads toward its highly anticipated conclusion, the duo is revving up future projects for the streamer.
When Netflix signed Matt and Ross Duffer to a nine-figure deal last year, one of the projects they were attached to was a mysterious science fiction series from creators Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews, the guys behind Netflix's beloved, canceled-too-soon fantasy epic "The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance." Today, we finally have more information about that project.
The eight-episode series is called "The Boroughs," and it sounds like it could be tonally similar to "Stranger Things" despite having a completely different setting and group of characters. Here's the official logline:

“Stranger Things” the series is heading for its finale, but “Stranger Things” the franchise will continue. As fans wait to hear when the fifth and final season of the sci-fi show will launch in 2024, the first spinoff has been announced: an animated series also on Netflix.
Netflix revealed very little info — there’s no title, logline, or premiere date — for the upcoming project. The series is described as being set “within” the universe of “Stranger Things,” so it’s presumably not just an animated adaptation of the O.G. and instead will tell its own story.

Netflix revealed very little info — there’s no title, logline, or premiere date — for the upcoming project. The series is described as being set “within” the universe of “Stranger Things,” so it’s presumably not just an animated adaptation of the O.G. and instead will tell its own story.

The cast of “Stranger Things” won the drama ensemble prize at the SAG Awards for its first season, but now the spooky Netflix series is hoping to finally claim a victory for its stunt performers. The show has two previous TV stunt ensemble nominations under its belt and returns to the category for the supersized work in Season 4. Can the show bank on the Netflix-friendly SAG voters to pull off a surprise victory?
At this year’s ceremony, the “Stranger Things” stunt ensemble is nominated alongside the teams from “Andor,” “The Boys,” “House of the Dragon,” and “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.” This is the sole SAG nomination this year for each of these series.

The epic ride that was the fourth season of “Stranger Things” wrapped up in July but Netflix is still delivering for fans before filming begins for next season.
Starting today, fans can embark on a 3D adventure through a stunning pop-up book that recreates the most memorable moments from the show. “Stranger Things: The Ultimate Pop-Up Book,” which released today on Amazon (and is already a #1 bestseller), includes five richly-detailed spreads that double as an expansive guide to Hawkins Indiana and the Upside Down.
The new interactive book joins dozens of collaborations that brands have churned out over the past year in collaboration with the hit Netflix show. Quicksilver released four capsule collections, pulling from their design archives to create ’80s-inspired looks featured in the show. Jansport launched a Hawkins collection which even features a limited-edition pack that Eleven carries in the show. And the West Coast brand Fifth Sun...

The actors on Stranger Things are household names now—but it all started with a first audition. When the Netflix sci-fi series started in 2016, nobody had ever heard of Hawkins, Indiana and the Upside Down sounded like a pineapple dessert. For casting director Carmen Cuba, the process of finding the right actors to inhibit the roles was a monumental task. Cuba and series creators Matt and Ross Duffer knew that the show needed some heavyweight child actors, so she knew approaching unknowns wasn't going to cut it. "This was not going to be that. It was going to be such hard work. It was going to be months on end and very specific dialogue," Cuba revealed to Vanity Fair. "That...

Jamie Campbell Bower: tentacled "Stranger Things" villain and . . . talented musician? After making his season four debut as One/Vecna/Henry Creel, the show's confusing yet supernaturally attractive villain, Bower has become a fan favorite, but his acting talents aren't the only reason we're obsessed. In addition to starring in popular fantasy films like "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn" and "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald," Bower is also a skilled musician who can shred a punk-rock song on the guitar or serenade a crowd with his impressive piano playing.
The "Stranger Things" star, known on stage as Jamie Bower, kickstarted his music career in London in 2015 when he helped form the English punk-rock band Counterfeit. Additional members included guitarist Sam Bower (the actor's brother), guitarist Tristan Marmont, bassist Roland Johnson, and drummer James Craig. This article contains spoilers for Stranger Things season 4.
We’ve all been there before. You’re just going about your day, planning your next D&d campaign and then you hear it: the tell-tale sound of a deep, hellish chiming. A grandfather clock has appeared from nowhere and with it comes the knowledge that Vecna will arrive from the Upside Down to ensnare your mind, break all your bones, and intern your body in hell forever. Mondays, am I right?
Such is the set of circumstances facing Hawkins, Indiana in Stranger Things season 4. Vecna, the latest ghoulish enemy from the Upside Down, operates without subtlety. A vision of the decrepit grandfather clock that once inhabited Creel House always foretells his arrival…and some poor schmuck’s death. Stranger Things fans online have had some fun with this concept, posting countless videos to social media joking about clocks that only they can see.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched “The Massacre at Hawkins Lab,” the Volume 1 finale episode of “Stranger Things” Season 4.
The second part of “Stranger Things” Season 4 will debut in less than a month. But what member of the Hellfire Club can wait that long for answers to all the questions posed by the shocking Volume 1 finale, and its major reveal that Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) created the Upside Down and the big bad Vecna, by locking One (Jamie Campbell Bower) inside the supernatural realm.
“Stranger Things” creators Matt and Ross Duffer, professionally known as the Duffer Brothers, weren’t willing to spill on everything just yet when speaking with Variety to talk about the first seven episodes of Season 4 on Thursday — but they gave us plenty to go on until Volume 2 debuts July 1.

After almost three years off the air, Stranger Things returned to Netflix last week with some of its biggest episodes to date.
Seven episodes of Stranger Things Season 4 were made available on the premiere date, with another two set for July 1st.
One character who has significantly less screen time than before is Charlie Heaton's Jonathan Byers, and fans have been vocal about it on social media.
Heaton was asked by British GQ about his reduced role.
“I know why you’re asking that,” he told the outlet, “and I’ve definitely seen some forums like Screen Rant or something — ‘What happened to the character?’"
"It is an ensemble cast, obviously every season they’ve brought in new characters, wonderful characters, and they’ve taken the story to different places.”

Stranger Things is one of Netflix’s defining series. But as the Eighties horror pastiche returns this week after a nearly three-year absence, the show and the streamer seem to be going in opposite directions. Netflix is contracting; Stranger Things is expanding.
It’s been a rough spring for Netflix. Subscriber growth has slowed, and actual subscriber losses are predicted later this year, which sent the streaming giant’s stock price stumbling. Employees have been laid off, and there’s a plan for a cheaper ad-supported subscription tier later this year to staunch the bleeding.

They say all good things must come to an end, but in our sequel, prequel, and spin-off fueled pop culture landscape, it seems like some things don't have to. As "Stranger Things" amps up for its final two seasons, it makes sense for all involved to start brainstorming ways in which the indelible world of Hawkins and the Upside Down can live on in some new capacity. Apparently, series co-creators Matt and Ross Duffer already have a kernel of an idea for a spin-off, but they're keeping it under wraps as it's...

“Stranger Things” creators Matt and Ross Duffer, aka the Duffer brothers, were being quite sincere when they teased ideas for expanding the show’s universe in a February letter to fans announcing the end of the Netflix show.
The Duffers actually do have an idea for a spinoff series to follow the conclusion of the story of Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Hopper (David Harbour), Joyce (Winona Ryder) and the rest of the Upside Down crew — and only one person outside of the duo knows what it is.
“We do have an idea for a spinoff that we’re super excited about … but we haven’t told anyone the idea yet, much less written it,” the Duffer brothers wrote in an emailed interview with Variety last week. “We think everyone — including Netflix — will be surprised when they hear the concept, because it’s very, very different. When the Rocky franchise started, Rocky Balboa was a down-on-his-luck, lumpy, beefy palooka, an underdog given a largely lucky opportunity. By Rocky IV, he’s a millionaire with a body chiseled from marble and the only way he can be an underdog is to fight a towering monster in Russia. Mere symbolic victories aren’t enough. He has to end global communism.
I love Rocky IV, but its rousing thrills have almost nothing in common with the likable charm of Rocky.
The only reason I wouldn’t say that Stranger Things has reached the Rocky IV stage of its artistic evolution is that the theatrical running time of Rocky IV is 91 minutes — or seven minutes shorter than the last of seven episodes premiering as the first “half” of the show’s penultimate season.
Yes, you read that right. The midseason finale of Stranger Things is 98 minutes, and five of the...

“The Little Nicholas: Happy as Can Be” by Benjamin Massoubre and Amandine Fredon is having its world premiere at a Special Screening at the Cannes Film Festival on May 20.
Several years in the making, the film brings together the world-famous French schoolboy and his creators, author René Goscinny and cartoonist Jean-Jacques Sempé, as it goes back and forth between their world and his imaginary world.
Translated into more than 30 languages, the Little Nicholas short stories have been adapted to fiction but never to animation until now. For the creative team, it was essential to stay true both to Goscinny’s short stories and to Sempé’s drawings.
“The main challenge was to create the Little Nicholas’ world in animation and, at the same time, remain faithful to Sempé’s style – his drawings are very small, they’re made in ink, which gives them a sort of awkward but very lively energy,...

It sounds like the Upside Down was the least of our worries. In anticipation of the Stranger Things season four premiere on May 27, the stars of the Netflix sci-fi hit told E! "I didn't think they would commit to how gruesome it was on the page. But clearly they don't care about young kids at all." Won't they think of the children?! Or, you know, adults who get easily scared?! "Kids will be scared. Kids will have nightmares," Joe Keery, who plays Steve, agreed. "If I...
