Cody decides to take a look back through every single Generation 1 event Pokémon. While today, event Pokémon are fairly easy to obtain and can be downloaded over Wi-Fi, things ran a little bit differently back in '99. From crazy Pokémon tours to one-off download days at the mall, to even a Pokémon World Championship in Sydney, Australia, this video briefly covers some of the most insane Pokémon events that have ever been held. One such event even culminated in a literal Pokémon pirate ship entering Sydney Harbor and sparking a live performance with a Team Rocket battle. Cody also discusses the special distribution machines (i.e. Mew Machines ) crafted specifically for these events with ex-Nintendo representative Jeremy Hepworth. Not to mention the numerous pieces of Pokémon merch and history that have been long forgotten over time. There is a lot to unpack here, so enjoy this long episode into the late 90s.
