I have to wonder if I am the only one who find this to be unintentionally comical, feeling almost like a self-parody.
Sure, is a good thing that crook changed his way and became a better person, but is Batman going to keep spying him in order to check he doesn't do any other crime in his life again? That comes off as something dystopian rather than inspiring.
Is Batman going to spy him while that guy is on the shower or in the bathroom? Is Batman aiming to become Gotham's Big Brother?
Seriously, what's up with that ending? I guess the idea here was to show Batman does care about that guy, but it also carries a lot of bizarre implications.
