  • It starts with a couple trying to lodge a case in a police station that their child was abducted by a mysterious woman called Yasmin. They have trouble convincing the police officer because the child is still in the womb of Yasmin - the surrogate mother.

The story unfolds in a grand scale.

The photography is fantastic. The scenes from parts of Rajasthan and Gujarat are breathtaking.

The acting is top notch (although sometimes a bit over the top).

It is one of those rare women centric movies to come out in Hindi language. Talking of languages, the language used by many characters are very strong. It is not something that some people might find comfortable - young women using filthy language!

Executive summary: Dukaan (literally - the shop) carries a punch.
  • The story is about a surrogate mother who runs away and does not return the child to its rightful owners for four years.

As I watched the trailer without completing it I decided to watch the movie. Sadly it did not go that well.

The elements connect with the audience but only on rare occasions. It is annoying especially when entire group of surrogates come into the picture.

The other thing that makes one think is how so many of surrogates come together to form a company, I mean aren't they rare?

Apart from that there are some good occasions like jasmine and her love life, jasmine explaining the child about mother father and herself, etc.

I also have a problem with name Dukaan. I mean isn't it insulting towards the lovable profession of surrogates.

Give it a watch if you have time.
