Jesus
- The Centurion: I'm sorry if I disturb you, Rabbi. But I would like to ask you a great favor. I have servant in my house. I've had him a long while, and he's good. Love him more like a son than a servant. He's very sick, dying I fear. Rabbi, in all humility...
- Jesus Christ: You would like me to come to your house. Very well, I will come with you.
- The Centurion: No. I am unworthy that you should enter unto my roof. I know that if you say the word, my servant will be healed. I am a man under authority, but I myself have authority over a hundred soldiers and if I say to one of them, do this, I know that he will do it and if I say to another go there I know that he will go. I need not see, I know. So it is enough that you give the word, and it will be done.
- Jesus Christ: Do you hear this man. I have seldom found such faith among the people of Israel. Go home, your faith has cured your servant.
- Pontius Pilate: Do you not realize I have the power to crucify you or set you free?
- Jesus Christ: You wouldn't have that power if it hadn't been given to you.
- Jesus Christ: What is the greatest commandment?
- Joseph of Arimathea: Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with thy whole strength. And the second is like it: Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
- Jesus Christ: You have answered well. You are not far from the Kingdom of God, Joseph of Arimathea.
- Pontius Pilate: Do you realize I have the power to release you or have you crucified?
- Jesus Christ: You wouldn't have had that power over me if it hadn't been given to you from above.
- Jesus Christ: Destroy this temple, and in three days I will make it rise again.
- Zerah: It took centuries to build this temple. Do you think you can build it again in three days?
- Jesus Christ: You have said it, but you have not understood.
- Zerah: [indignant] Rabbi, I understand better than you *think*.
- Jesus Christ: What is the heart of the law?
- Joseph of Arimathea: "Hear, O Israel, thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, with all thy soul and with all thy strength." This is the greatest commandment.
- Jesus Christ: You have said well. You are not far from the Kingdom of God, Joseph of Arimathea. But there is another commandment, no less greater: you must love your neighbor as yourself.
