DC Showcase: Jonah Hex is an animated short featuring DC Comics' scarred Western hero, the bounty hunter Jonah Hex. The short will accompany the direct-to-video animated movie Batman: Under the Red Hood. Warner Home Video has released a description of this bonus feature: Fans will be treated to an incredible package of DC Universe storytelling as the Special Edition Blu-Ray and 2-Disc Special Edition DVD include the second animated short in the all-new DC Showcase series which features the popular DC Comics character, Jonah Hex. The short is scripted by renowned author Joe Lansdale and stars the voices of Thomas Jane (Hung), Linda Hamilton (The Terminator), Michelle Trachtenberg (Mercy, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Michael Rooker (Days of Thunder).

Warner Home Video as released an official description of the plot for DC Showcase: Jonah Hex:The tough-as-nails bounty hunter Jonah Hex gets his man -- until someone else gets to him first -- in this case a murderous madam who wants to steal more than just her bounty from Jonah Hex. Based on a story from the Jonah Hex comic series.

DC Showcase: Jonah Hex stars the voices of Thomas Jane (Hung) as Jonah Hex, Linda Hamilton (The Terminator), Michelle Trachtenberg (Mercy, Buffy the Vampire Slayer). Michael Rooker (Days of Thunder) and Jason Marden (Spirited Away).

DC Showcase: Jonah Hex is being released as a bonus feature on the 2-disc DVD and Blu-ray editions of the direct-to-video animated movie, Batman: Under the Red Hood. The film is scheduled for release on July 27, 2010 on DVD, Blu-ray disc, On Demand and for Download.

It's intended as a "Showcase", basically a side-film to the feature (Batman: Under the Red Hood). A feature length Jonah Hex film (animated) has been announced and will be in production soon. There is also a live action film based on the same character starring Josh Brollin. The live action film was considered a disaster in comparison though, as it wasn't true to the comic character.

Considering it is not a feature length film, it is considered among the unrated bonus features. However, do to the graphic nature depicted in the film... it could be considered close to Rated PG-13 or even Rated-R. These are NOT official ratings given by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA).
