The two directors, Benoît Delépine and Gustave Kervern, and the two leads, Vincent Macaigne and Jonathan Cohen, all found themselves waiting for a taxi on the sidewalk after the César Awards 2021. All four had been nominated in their respective categories and they had all lost.
The movie was originally called "Union nationale", or "National union" in English.
The movie was shot quickly, over a month, at the end of 2021 in the Occitanie region, and then quickly edited, in order to be released right before the 2022 French presidential election, which happened in April 2022.
The original title, "En même temps", means approximately "at the same time" in English, and is a French expression which has been wildly used by French President Emmanuel Macron to justify his political positions, to try to appease or attract left-wing voters and right-wing voters at the same time. He would say something left-leaning, then add "et en même temps", and complete it with something right-leaning, or vice versa.
