The retired police officers are forgiven for not knowing the difference between vintage and retro. But a fashion designer/model should know better. Alison Levene says Brian Lane's coat is "retro". It isn't, it's vintage. Retro is an imitation of an earlier fashion. Vintage is the year or time when something was produced. So vintage is the original, retro is a new imitation of the original.
