MTVE Studios Not Moving Ahead With ‘Jodie’ Animated Movie; Will Redevelop Unscripted Show ‘Power Game’
Image
Exclusive: So long for now to Jodie, an animated film-cum-Daria spinoff that was set to feature Tracee Ellis Ross voicing the main character.

The long-gestating project first began as a series that would feature Daria and Jodie, and then was narrowed to just focus on the latter character. How Danvers and Pete Change True Detective's Formula in Nigh Country
Image
True Detective: Night Country remixes the mentor-student dynamic to create an unpredictable and layered narrative. The focus shifts from the older detective to the more intriguing figure of Pete, who has a relatable story and personal struggles. Danvers takes a backseat and allows others to do the heavy-lifting, showing humility and a willingness to learn from her team.

The following article contains spoilers for True Detective: Night Country Episode 3, "Part 3," which aired Jan. 28 on HBO. It also includes a mention of domestic violence.

True Detective: Night Country does a lot to differentiate itself from the past seasons. Those were more grounded in street-level crime, though Season 1 did tease an ambiguous and very metaphysical hook. This came via the Tuttle Cult, Carcosa and the Yellow King. However, that series ended up being a typical procedural in the end, which saw its detectives take down a pedophile ring.

What was quite...

She reteams with the latter’s director, Yorgos Lanthimos, for Searchlight Pictures’ “Poor Things.” The film, which is out in US theaters on Dec. 8, follows Stone as Bella Baxter — a woman brought back to life by a scientist (Willem Dafoe) and subsequently goes on a journey of self-discovery, meeting a variety of people along the way including a lawyer (Mark Ruffalo) and a potential suitor (Ramy Youssef).

Stone’s performance is remarkable here, as many critics have noted.

Nick Schager (The Daily Beast) declared that Stone will “blow your mind” in the movie, writing: “Nothing overshadows Stone’s odd, amusing and affecting performance as Bella,...
