Users Data-Mine Star Wars Battlefront Beta To Find Leia, Han Solo And Possible Hero Battle Mode
The Star Wars Battlefront beta is upon us, ladies and gentlemen, and with the bout of testing swinging its doors open for all users across PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC today, October 8, early adopters are really taking Dice’s licensed title out for a test spin.

Indeed, some Reddit users – namely TheeUberMedic and radgamerdan – have taken the trial run one step further by unearthing some details hidden within the shooter’s source files. While these remain unconfirmed for now, the eagle-eyed PC users have located voice files for Han Solo, Princess Leia and The Emperor, which are said to be buried in the file directories, along with something called the Hero Hunt – an unannounced mode, perhaps?

Early signs indicate that the files could foreshadow an all-encompassing Hero battle within Star Wars Battlefront, opening up a mode where players solely play as one of the series’ more iconic characters, as opposed...

How to Use External VSTs with Sibelius 7: Part 2
This article is a guest post by composer Derek Bourgeois

_______________________________________________

Now let us look at how you would do this process using Vienna Symphonic Library.

The principal is exactly the same, but the interface looks very different. You have to load Vienna Ensemble Pro before you start to create your instance. You create the instance and link it to Sibelius.

Let’s take my Instance ‘Vsl Percussion 1’. You start with a blank canvas and add instruments one by one except in Ve Pro you are able to name them as well. In ‘Vsl Percussion 1’ I have a sundry collection of 16 assorted percussion instruments as you can see from the picture below.

You create your instrument by clicking on the little icon bottom left of the dialog. You assign the name and the channel, then you select either the Matrix or the specific patch and drag it into the area top left of the screen.

Solo String Shootout: Lass and Spitfire
Until Audiobro’s La Scoring Strings: First Chair (Lass First Chair) library first made an appearance a couple of years ago, Vienna Symphonic Library’s DVD Solo Strings library was pretty much the only serious solo string game in town. Lass First Chair was never originally intended to be for lead parts as such – as the name suggests, it’s the first chair in the full Lass ensemble and strictly speaking not lead at all. But it has nevertheless been adopted for this purpose by many composers – it was eventually launched as a standalone product; it has a good expressive range and it is very easy to play.

Now into the marketplace comes a completely new offering: Spitfire Audio Solo Strings. In contrast to Lass, which is relatively dry, Spitfire makes their space an integral part of the library, recording at the world renowned Air Studios in London. Perhaps even more significant,...
