the ending hit hard
God I felt the ending deep within me - ramy's feeling of helplessness/anguish turning to acceptance and repentance of one's mistakes, the acting as well as a phenomenal score in this scene was excellent.
I must mention some of my fellow muslims seem to misunderstand the show, the character isn't supposed to represent islam, he is deeply flawed and the show expresses this through his extreme depression and misguided nature. He's not a good person and they never really paint him out to be.
I hope the next season is one of mental growth and happiness for the character, he seems to have finally understood his flaws. May Calamawy is great as always, I love the idea of her seeing her future with a humble and respectful individual rather than the frankly misguided path she seemed to be on.
The critiques - although the score is without a doubt incredible, it would be nice if it wasn't recycled as much. The characters of Maysa and Farouk are now unpleasant to watch, lovely actors albeit the characters are far too flawed and irrational now, and don't seem to have much positive character development or even basic maturity. It's difficult to believe that elderly parents of their age would act more immature than their own kids. The dad just seems like a bumbling buffon and the mother has near to no maternal characteristics - both of which differ greatly from the first season. Dave Mehreji was hilarious, I wish we saw more of him. Ramy should have been far far angrier with zainab over what she hid from him, it seemed like another side joke rather than an integral moment for the character, which is what it should have been - I hope it's touched upon next season. Regardless, great show, phenomenal score, looking forward to the next here from the UK!
