Synopsis

  • Sixty years in the future, an elderly Harry remembers Asta, and how everything was before it changed.

In the present, Harry runs through the woods looking for the baby. He figures the baby has emotionally attached itself to Sahar, and that's why it obeyed her when she told him to run off. Harry calls to the baby in his alien tongue,

In the mountains, Liv and Mike take water from the supposedly contaminated creek. They confirm the creek is heavily contaminated and Mike says they should check it out in person.

At the clinic, Asta comes into Harry's office and te4lls him that she needs to talk to him. Harry is busy putting chains on a skeleton for Halloween. Asta wants more information on the aliens planning to invade Earth, and she asks him about insectoids. Harry tells her that the Internet she found out about the insectoids is wrong, and the insectoid aliens don't squash people but eat people. He doesn't know what alien race they're dealing with until he gets the rest of Goliath's message from the baby. Harry complains that the baby didn't respond to his alien call, and she points out Harry isn't as alien as he once was. He takes offense at her comment, and insists that he's an alien and not as weak as Goliath Asta tanks him for nothing and storms out.

Mike and Liv make their way to an impoundment pond where mining companies dump their toxic waste. Liv wonders if there's been a leak and the company is hiding it.

At school, Max asks Sahar to go to the comic book store after the school. She says that she's going to busy saving the world, and is going to go to the RV hoping the baby will come back. Max offers to come with her and Sahar declines his offer. He promises he won't tell Harry about the baby, and Sahar agrees. Eleanor is working as the cafeteria lady and knows Max's name. As he walks off, Sahar wonders how Eleanor knows Max's name, and he says that he's famous.

Later at the RV, the two children confirm the baby isn't there. Sahar tries to duplicate Harry's alien call, and Max complains that his stomach hurts. She figures that Eleanor had a military watch, and suggests Eleanor put a tracking device in Max's food. Sahar tells him to poop it out, and gives him a laxative to help.

In town, Liv and Mike tell Asta and Abigail Hodges that they found the contaminated creek, which explains the medical files they found in Corrington's car. Liv explains that Corrington knew his company was responsible for the contamination and tried to cover it up, but Sam figured it out and Corrington killed Sam and stole his files. The police say that they're sending the case to the FBI, and Mike figures there'll be lawsuits and the company will be shut down. He offers Abigail a sheriff's county baseball cap as consolation for her husband being murdered, but Abigail is less than impressed. She and Abigail leave, and Liv points out that she gave the hat to Mike for Christmas.

Harry goes into the examining room and finds D'arcy there with her pants off. She says that she hurt her knee, and she's been training a lot and might have overdone it. D'Arcy tells Harry that she has a ski tournament coming up and can't stop, and he agrees to look at it. He tells her that her body is falling apart, and D'arcy insists that he fix it so she can ski in the tournament. If she can't ski in the tournament, she doesn't know what she'll do. Harry tells her that she can do it and he believes in her, and that it's just a pulled muscle. He gives her some medicine for the pain and swelling, and assures her she won't die for many years. D'arcy hugs him and goes, and Harry wonders why he said that when he only cares about Asta. He wonders if he's starting to care about all humans.

The townspeople gather for a meeting in Ben's meeting, here he shows a diorama what the new resort will look like. D'arcy puts up her hand to ask a question, and she keeps bugging Ben to answer her question until he finally does. She asks about traffic, and Ben says that more traffic is good for business. Dan asks if smaller businesses will be pushed out by the bigger chains, and Asta and some of the others point out the potential problems with having big companies move in. Ben insists that they can use the money the restore brings in will give them money to clean up the creek. Kate says that she was skeptical and then realizes the resort will bring in more money for public services. Mike is there, and happy that the police will get more money. Asta notices Harry's absence, and wonders where he is.

Harry walks out on the mountain, and worries that he's becoming more human. He figures that he's been in human form too long. He turns to his alien body and embraces the frozen environment. Then he realizes that he's hungry and figures aliens can live in cabins with meat freezers.

Asta tells the others that the moneys will go to big corporations and never trickle down to local businesses. Kate talks to Ben privately and tells him that he took command and was very sexy. Ben figures there were a lot of people against the resort, and Ben worries that everyone hates him. Kate assumes him that some people just don't have his opinion, and he should ignore them and do what he thinks is best for Patience. They hug and Ben says that they're a team and nothing can stop them.

Harry returns to the cabin in his alien form, and figures that if he has to stay in it to stop from becoming more human, he will. He soon discovers that doesn't work too well in the sized-for-humans cabin, and figures he can go back to human form as long as he acts like an alien. Harry figures that his best bet is to kidnap a child, since the baby will only listen to Sahar.

At the cafeteria, the kids dressed up for Halloween gather. Sahar makes sure Eleanor isn't there, and meets with Max. She isn't dressed for Halloween. David is watching them on the CCTVs, and listening to their conversation about the alien.

Lena prepares to go, now that they've solved the murder. She gives Liv a going-away gift of crime tape, and with Mike. Lena says that it was fun, and he and Liv have to start working on their next big case. Liv talks to Mike privately and asks him why he didn't ask Lena out when she clearly wanted him to. Mike say that he's thinking about going back to DC, much to Liv's surprise. He wants more excitement, and goes with Cletus.

Sahar is in the school bathroom, and Harry emerges from a booth and says that he's going to kidnap her at bait. She readily agrees, figuring that she'll adult-nap him so he can make the alien sounds and lure the baby back. Harry talks about bringing rope and tape, and Sahar points out that it's not kidnapping because she's not resisting. He tells her that then he doesn't want her to go with him, and Sahar notes that since he's resisting her that she's adult-napping him. Harry complains about who is following who, and goes with her.

In the hallway, Bobby comes back and Max finds him in the hallway. David got the entire thing on camera, and determines that Bobby's human face matches the Bobby who was lost. He realizes that Bobby is actually the alien, while Max leads Bobby off.

Harry drives Sahar to the RV, and resolves to be a monster for Halloween. They continue argue about whether it's a kidnapping or an adult-napping, and Sahar wants to go for pizza. Harry admits that he could go for a slice, and Bobby calls Sahar on their walkie-talkies from his room and says that he has the baby. Ben and Kate come in dressed for Halloween, and asks who Bobby is. Max says that it's Bobby, and his parents say that they'll see them downstairs for stew. The boy says that they're not going trick-or-treating.

As Ben and Kate go downstairs, the doorbell rings. Ellen is there with trick-or-treaters, and Ellen says that she's going as Kate, and somehow "she" snagged a horrible husband. Ellen says everything Ben says at the same time. He gives them candy, and Ellen wants beer instead and Kate tells them to go inside and get them.

Max keeps trying to raise Sahar on the radio, and Bobby slips out the window.

D'arcy comes up to the Hawthornes' door, and asks if Kate can come with her to egg cars. Ben tells Kate to go on ahead. The two women come out to find Asta and the other women waiting for them in their car. They all get in and drive off.

Max wanders the streets, looking for Bobby.

Bobby goes into the forest and hears Sahar calling to him from inside the RV. The alien goes in and discovers that it's a recording, and soldiers surround the RV and capture Bobby. The soldiers attach a cable and fly the RV off with a helicopter. Sahar and Harry arrive too late to do anything but see the RV taken away. Sahar blames herself and Harry takes the blame, saying he was in charge. She breaks into tears, and Harry hesitantly comforts her. Sahar hugs Harry, and Harry chokes up.

The women go the Old Barrett Bridge, which will be torn down if the resort is built. They hope Kate will convince Ben not to bring the resort to Patience, and Kate says that she thinks the resorts will be good for Patience. D'arcy takes Kate under the bridge and shows her where they carved their names into the wood. Ben's name is there, and they talk about how they all went there as teenagers, even Ben. Kate says that she never had a sense of belonging to a place where she grew up, and they offer her a knife so she can carve her name into the wood.

The women goes to the bar and Dan serves pie. The women remember Dan serving the whole town in the diner when the generator went out, and Kate says that she never realized how special it all was. Asta asks if Kate will help them, and Kate figures she carved her name, she's one of them.

Harry figures humans want attachments to other things.

In his office, Mike looks at a photo of him and his deceased partner.

Ben eats candy and looks at a brochure of the resort.

The next day, Harry is at the cabin preparing to eat pizza. Asta bursts in and says that she got his text, and was worried he was in trouble. Harry says that he used abbreviations, but none of them make any sense. He explains that soldiers stole the baby with a helicopter, and he's going to kill them to get the baby back once he eats pizza. Harry tells her to get her own pizza, and Asta notices Harry's unopened mail including a package from Violinda. Asta opens it and finds a book that Violinda wanted the baby to get it so he could know his father. The book contains Goliath paintings, including one she wants Harry to see.

Sixty years in the future, Harry in his alien body wanders the devastated landscape.

Three hundred years in the future, Harry continued wandering the Earth searching for a way to save what is now his home. He comes to a sea through a time portal, but when seagulls fly out of it, they burst into flames. Harry figures that the portal is on a ley line, and there must be more.

Five hundred years in the future, Harry finds another portal. A hand reaches out of it briefly and then withdraws.

In the present, Asta looks at the painting in the book, which shows her and Harry on the day he fought Jimmy when he first arrived. Harry points out they were the only ones there.

The future Harry steps through the portal and arrives in Brazil 30 years in the present's past. He takes on the dead man's form and paint brush, and the dead man looks like Goliath.

Asta figures out that Harry is Goliath.
