I usually find Chapman To playing comedic roles, starring in comical, nonsensical or even ridiculous movies. However, I found this movie to be a real gem, not only because of the solid performance by Elanne Kwong, but also due to the sensitivity of Chapman To's character, who was played with great affection and emotion. The storyline is quite straightforward and easy to digest, but in its simplicity, the movie somehow was really enjoyable and moved me emotionally. It was a pleasure to witness how two normal, down on their luck individuals could find solace in one another and eventually find true love and build a happy marriage and family together. The immense love that Shi Yong and Lee Li shared was so amazing and touching, that it really made me salute their relationship as a great example of what it means to be a faithful, dedicated, supportive and uncompromising couple. I really felt the pain and cried with Lee Li when Shi Yong passed away in the accident. I was kind of surprised that the movie was able to bring out such strong emotions from within me. To see Lee Li hold her ground and continue to fight on for their shared dream was a great moment of inspiration. Despite her great loss and circumstances, she was still able to rise to the occasion and achieve what others thought was impossible. Her miraculous triumph in the end brought me to tears again, not of sorrow but of pure joy. This movie to me, is not just a simple love movie, more importantly it carries with it a message to inspire people to dare to achieve their dreams. It's never too late to pursue your dreams, unless you choose to stop believing.
