Hein Kruse
- [Hein steps into the living room wearing large, ill-fitting pinstripe pyjamas which were clearly made for someone twice his size]
- Erna Müller: Aha! Get out, this minute.
- Hein Kruse: I can explain everything.
- Erna Müller: There is no need to explain the situation. It's perfectly clear.
- Elke Mädler: He has no room anymore.
- [Erna glances up and down at Hein]
- Erna Müller: Just tell me you do not want to step in the elevator in front of a lady.
- Hein Kruse: I didn't know!
- Hein Kruse: Is she gone?
- Elke Mädler: Y-yes. You can sleep peacefully.
- Hein Kruse: I've killed the mood. That's always so embarrassing.
- Elke Mädler: It's not so bad. She doesn't mean that at all.
- Hein Kruse: Won't she come out right now?
- Elke Mädler: That's right.
- [She pushes him gently to his room]
- Hein Kruse: I have to say something to her.
- Elke Mädler: Tomorrow, okay?
- [She continues to push him gently into his room]
- Hein Kruse: Yes, but I can't sleep now!
- [Uwe, who is lying on the couch, picks up his alarm clock from the coffee table to check the time. He looks over at Hein, who is sleeping soundly in the chair next to him and snoring softly. He holds the alarm clock to the sleeper's face, but he doesn't stir. He then stretches and opens his mouth as if to yawn]
- Uwe Rahn: ALARM!
- [Hein wakes up and jumps to his feet]
- Hein Kruse: What's going on?
- Uwe Rahn: At ease.
- Hein Kruse: Man, Uwe...
- Walter Plonk: What are you doing here, Mr. Rahn?
- Elke Mädler: He's waiting for his grandmother.
- Walter Plonk: What are you looking for now?
- Hein Kruse: Wait a minute, Mr. Plonk. I have to confess to you what I haven't yet told Elke. I'm not Uwe Rahn. I'm his friend, Hein Kruse.
- [Hein peeks out of his room. Erna lies on the garden couch, covering herself with a blanket. Hein is about to fall into her trap]
- Hein Kruse: [whispering loudly] Elke?
- [Erna answers with a groan]
- Hein Kruse: Are you asleep?
- Erna Müller: Uh-uh.
- [Hein kneels by the couch]
- Hein Kruse: I have something to say. You've been waiting for me...
- [He lifts the covers to kiss who he thinks is Elke. Erna abruptly stands up]
- Erna Müller: And I've been waiting for you too, young man!
- [Hein stands in shock, fumbling with his glasses]
- Hein Kruse: That...
- Erna Müller: That's why I'm lying here!
- Hein Kruse: You? This can't be!
- Hein Kruse: Excuse me, but I have to sleep now.
- Erna Müller: Here's the key, young man.
- Hein Kruse: [taking the key] What, you want to lock me in, too?
