  • The devil hunters realise they're cut off from the outside world when they notice that all the clocks in the hotel are stuck at the same time. There's a strange flashback I didn't really understand triggered by one of the girls smoking the same brand of cigarettes that Aki smokes. The gang encounters the devil, a grey mass of screaming tortured faces that completely fills the corridor like an incoming wave of slime.

The devil asks for Denji's life in exchange for the freedom of the other four. Kobeni, in particular, is in favour of this idea, and promptly attacks Denji, but Himeno (eyepatch girl) and Aki (uptight, top-knot boy) attempt to save him.

We know how this episode is going to end, so I was kind of just waiting for it. Yes, Denji finally realises he needs to become Chainsaw Man. None of the others can do anything against the devil, which turns into a gaping chasm of mouths to fall through once Denji resolves to kill it. Don't the others have abilities? Is this just a much more powerful devil? It is good to see more of the other characters' personalities, though.

I could have done without the flashback. I didn't really understand it.
