The film was shot in a bungalow which was once owned by actor Jeetendra and where Ekta Kapoor and Tusshar Kapoor spent their childhood.
This movie's previous title is ghost returns but later changed as bhoot returns as a sequel of 2003 film bhoot
The film borrowed many plots from Vaastu Shastra (2004) which was also produced by Ram Gopal Varma: Married couple finds a house with cheap rent, man of the house has sister who, along with other residents, experience demonic presence, the child in the house has imaginary friends and is sent to child psychiatrist.
