I saw Balder Skånstrøm-Bo's short film in Bournemouth and I must say I hope this mini-masterpiece goes further.

The film is spellbinding and engrossing, it plays out like the bitch- child of Fight Club on acid. Bewilderbeast is charged with themes about humanity - ranging from primal instincts to a rejection of civilization. Skånstrøm-Bo fills each scene with a charged energy that reflects the inner desires of the protagonist and it becomes captivating.

As an amateur filmmaker, seeing this sort of independent work is a dream. The style oozes out of every pixel and the narrative is full of class and intelligence. I love cinema that challenges and uses themes and it is refreshing to see that there are other filmmakers, who are willing to tackle issues head on.

Most of the other short films I witnessed that day were forgettable, Bewilderbeast was on another level. I look forward to seeing more from this director and also crew - notable mentions go to the production design and the cinematography.

Mindblowing. Hopefully it reaches a big audience soon.
