From the moment that not a single person has the appropriate accent because no one is from the region, it lacks authenticity. It trivializes a very serious political issue, "caciquismo", which makes the lives of many people quite uncomfortable. No one remotely close to the rural life it supposedly depicts will find it bearable. The stereotypes it portrays are not only flat and dated, but unrealistic and upsetting. Corruption is the real issue and it is hardly hinted at.
I feel bad for the good actors that got involved in this production. The female lead does a fabulous job, but that might be the only saving grace of this movie. In the end, it's a movie about Teruel made by people from Madrid, in typical imperialist fashion.
