Long before James Dolan became the most hated owner in sports, he was just a kid from Long Island who wanted to rock with his band. At first young Jim rebels against his billionaire father, but he finally joins the family's cable television empire. After years climbing the ranks (and a trip to rehab), Jim gets a new assignment from his dad: running the New York Knicks. He quickly takes center-stage at Madison Square Garden-and begins his infamous reign of error.

After a string of disastrous seasons, James Dolan brings in Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas to help fix the Knicks. With Thomas as president, the franchise continues to flounder. And instead of firing his chief basketball guy, Dolan doubles down on the Isiah Experience, and makes Thomas the head coach as well. When Dolan and Thomas decide to fight a sexual harassment lawsuit, the heavily publicized trial drags the Knicks' reputation to new lows.

Just as the Knicks start to gain some respectability on the court, Dolan finds a new way to squander any possible goodwill. He orders Garden security to use facial recognition to ban thousands of fans. But this dystopian technology is actually just the latest example of decades of strong arm tactics. The Dolan security state fights beloved players...as well as fans, celebrities, and the Girl Scouts. It's an all out effort to protect Jim's ego. And the tactics get ugly enough to put Dolan on the radar of New York's Attorney General.

In the final episode, a campaign to get James Dolan to sell the Knicks. But what can be offered to the billionaire who has everything? From elderly computer hackers to riled up law students, fans have been trying to get Dolan to sell the team for pretty much as long as he's owned it. These efforts have only succeeded in making Dolan more grumpy. But today, Dolan is pissing off the politicians who regulate him, and pissing away billions on a new venue in Vegas. Maybe he's feeling the pinch. Or maybe he's finally ready to make a real commitment to his music career. Is the time finally right to get Dolan to sell the team?
