- Jackson arrives at his office to find Deborah has quit and young Aiden Kelso is waiting for him. Aiden's mother Isla was understood to have been the victim of serial killer Philip McCrory but recently the dying McCrory had owned to all the murders bar Isla's and Aiden wants the case reopened. Aiden's father Ian is evasive, painting a saintly picture of Isla to protect Aiden, when she was actually loose living and a drinker. Having been fleeced by his girlfriend Charlotte, who he learns is a professional con artist, Jackson bumps into old flame Julia, now heavily pregnant and who inadvertently gives him a lead which results in the arrest of Isla's killer. Jackson also tracks down recalcitrant Egyptian teenager Samira Minyawi on behalf of her controlling father, as Minyawi helped in the German kidnapping. Having rescued Samira from her violent boyfriend, Jackson dates the recently divorced Louise Munroe but feels he cannot commit to a relationship with her and goes home, eventually ending up delivering Julia's baby.—don @ minifie-1
- Aiden Kelso's mother Isla was believed to have been the third victim of serial Philip McCrory. However, prior to McCrory's death in prison from lung cancer, he confessed to his first two murders of Ailsa Dunn and Maura Lynch but denied having anything to do with Isla's death. Aiden just wants to know what happened to his mum and asks Jackson to investigate. She had gone missing Christmas eve when Aiden was just 3 years old and her body was found in the river on Boxing Day. Aiden's father paints a picture of her as a perfect mother and wife but Brodie finds out otherwise. Brodie is also hired by a former client to find the man's daughter Samira who didn't return home at the end of the school term in Cairo. He believes she is in Edinburgh as her credit was used there but he has little more information. Brodie quickly finds her but she runs off again after an argument with her father. Julia Little, someone from Brodie's past, unexpectedly reappears - she is very pregnant, though not by Brodie. Finally, Brodie is thrown for a loop when he finds that his bank account has been emptied and Charlotte has run off.—garykmcd
