JC travel's over 5000 miles west to meat his mentor Rod Manning. Rod planned a new Road Trip for further educating JC to become a fully equipped opal miner. In this trip there set out to make 40000 Australiën dollars, doing all kind's of labour aside from specific opal mining skills in order to achieve that goal. In Western Australië gold miners briefly try to mine opal in the old gold mine's with great succes. But a crumbling market and higher gold profits made the period far from exhausted. So Rod has a contact with a mine who is willing to prospect his mine for opal. That's where Rod's specialism in mining black opal comes in. Due to unforeseen difficulties about the stability of the mine, the adventures are put on hold. Rod has a backup plan to help in a cropdusting job creatively describing there driving skills on big agricultural machinery. So far so good!

In the wine region Margaret River Rod and JC excepted the job trimming the grape vines and bottling the Full-bodied wine, while Rod has to overcome his beer custom taste when they lushesly enjoy the final product. Recovering from the richly enjoyed stock there heading for Shark Bay where day struck a deal with pearl farmer Rob Morgan, delivering Cut opal to create unique gems of opal in pearl.

Rod and JC are heading up north to the Kimberly region, known for it's diamonds an especially the pink diamonds. In 2015 the diamond market crashed leaving a lot of mines no longer viable. Rod has contact with one of the owners of a former bigger mines. With the market recovering they're trying to start mining again. In order to do so the have to do some prospecting and that's where the dynamic duo comes in. There asked to do some manual drilling getting some samples and in the meanwhile they're allowed to sift thru old tailings for overseen diamonds. After two days they manage to find a diamond in the tailings and they proudly present there stone to miner Joe. Additional Joe gave them 8 stones as payment for the labor. The celebration are short termed because there car is ransacked, with most of the heavy tools stolen. Besides that the windshield got destroyed as well. After repairs they are heading for some cattle labor but run into a jong walibi in the pouch of her run over mother. When delivering the baby to a specialized farm they decide to help them out by deliver three kangooroo's back into the wild for good will. At the end they go back to the juwelry store to see how there stones are cut. The result is stunning and give them a serious profit after all.

In the nations biggest reservation Rod an JC are scheduled for assisting tagging and sampling Crocs, preferably Salty's, in order to monitor the population. Every miner has to be well aware of the crocodiles if they doing labor in Northern Australia. In there continuing journey towards the eastern opal fields, JC arranged and extra opportunity near Alice Springs, only 1000 km out if the trip. He set-up a deal with a ruby miner, where they going to help open mine a claim. It turned out to be a very profitable deal because they manage to collect 30000 Australian dollars in ruby's and with there 30% cut they gross 9000 AUSD. Together with the 500 AUSD for helping a car crusher in order to get rid of abandoned cars along the roads, its a pretty good week.

The last week emerged and Rod has a surprise assignment, but first they have to help a contact to find a big rock containing several granaat (special type of gem worth a lot in mint condition. In this case it has to be a rock blok with a lot of granaat for educational purpose. Aside off course single granaat are also on the menu. Apparently luck is on their side because the fourth separated rock contains a sizable amount of granaat. Beside that find they find a ton of loose granaat. So their stoked for the museum, the recipient of the big rock. Rod and LC get a agreed upon 1000 ausd and a 1000 ausd on loose granaat. So a cool 1500 pp is not bad for a days work. Now there going to Rods neck of the wood for there last assignment. Here comes the surprise Rod was talking about. Rod's grandfather wrote a book about a few of his experiences, including a legend about a fistsize piece of black opal with all the important colors. The opal could be worth a million dollar. It's suposed to be berried in a tin can in one of the mines in Rod's neighborhood. Rod's more or less determent the specific mine so now the get some detectors and learn to work with it. They even find a speck of gold during education. Sadly for the teacher. Now they get to the mine were former partner of Rod, Les, set things up. They actually detect a can but only full of sand. So the chase is a bust, but the mine shown good prospect of opal. JC found a very old pic as a small consultation, but the opal is more interesting. So they starting to examine the layer of potch and pretty quick they run into opal. Will it be enough to get to the target of 40000 pp?
