Anyone who does politics has to create stories. Max Lentor (Helgi Schmid) and Valerie Hazard (Nilam Farooq) agree on this. The competition between their lobby firms turns them into enemies: he works for Dr. Bea Brandstätter's (Katharina Schmalenberg) eco-NGO, she for Arie Merzen's (Simon Pearce) industrial association. The narratives clash in a talk show. It's not just about contraceptives in drinking water, but about masculinity - and above all: about money.

In the dispute over brown coal mining in Lusatia, Valerie resorts to dirty tricks. The quick-witted lobbyist spies on her rival Max. He takes it in good spirits - and tries to think one step ahead. When his jealous agency colleague Kaspar Jelinek betrays him, Max is in his element: in a wonderful feud.

The ring is clear for a new battle between Max and Valerie: He is fighting for Ellen Kehrer's start-up "Robocare", which wants to revolutionize elderly care with friendly androids. Valerie is campaigning for Frank Brenneke from the Nursing Association. No advertisement can be too kitschy, no talk format too sensationalist. There is no morality in the fight for brown coal in Daunitz either: Valerie is trying to use Max's pregnant sister CeeCee against him.

Greetings from Lützerath: giant trees have to be felled for brown coal mining in Daunitz. The lobbyist keeps to himself why Max wants to sacrifice his hometown, as well as his origins. His sister CeeCee recognizes where she belongs: in the protest movement. She lets Valerie make her the face of the resistance. The tough lobbyist knows exactly what works: a story that stirs up emotions. This is exactly what Max is relying on to make care robots human.

For Valerie, deception is part of the business. To attract investors for laser drones "Made in Germany", the consultant has to come up with something. Her client, the company founder Sören Schlag, wants to get Max on board. If he is to pull together with his rival, he wants something in return. With his mentor Herta Zickler, he comes up with a bluff that takes advantage of the ambitions of the Minister of Economic Affairs May.

Two assignments bring Max closer to his homeland: the fight for brown coal in Daunitz and the presentation of the internet drone. By returning to Lusatia, the ripped-off lobbyist must confront his repressed past. A reunion brings up old feelings - and creates new pain. Max's mask of professionalism still holds. At the drone show, he experiences a double surprise in which Valerie has a hand in it.

For Max, attack is the best form of defence. His jealous colleague Jelinek makes life difficult for him with his boss Dr. Janussen. In the best manner of his mentor, Max arranges a horse-trading deal for top positions. In his hometown of Daunitz, things are more hands-on. At the round table between the coal industry and citizens' initiative, the lobbyist comes under fire: his father, of all people, exposes Max.

Max, spoiled by success, is alone in the shitstorm: As a ruthless career lobbyist, he is the most hated person in the country. Even his agency boss Janussen is criticizing him, but his rival Valerie stands by him. In Nina Well's TV show, Max takes the offensive and risks a confrontation with his critic Martina Glaser from Lobby-Control. The moment of truth comes for him in Daunitz too.
