The pill bottle with the light green top, seen throughout the film, matches those used by the pharmacies inside Publix grocery stores. Publix is a large Florida-based grocery chain in the Southeast United States, further establishing the Miami setting.
At about the 14:05 mark, there is a cameo on the television set of Ron Magill, longtime zookeeper and communications director at Miami-Dade Zoological Park and Gardens (formerly Miami MetroZoo.) Magill is also a noted wildlife photographer and regularly does TV show and documentary appearances with animals.
When Paula is looking through Zoya's notebook, she is wearing a T-shirt with text on it that says, "How Are You Feeling Today?"(partially covered). Below the text are cartoon faces displaying different emotions. The cartoonist is Jim Borgman, winner of the 1991 Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning.
