Standard Sonic affair. Sonic destroys robots which explode and release animals trapped inside. Non-robot enemies disappear in a puff of smoke upon defeat.

About on the same level as Sonic Heros with its cartoon violence.

This game is much tamer than most of the other "main" Sonic games, as the violence has a much lighter tone and nobody's defeat results in any actual deaths. Jumping on robots to free animals is about as violent as the game gets.

While the game is very fast-paced and frenetic, this is definitely one of the "lighter" Sonic games. The tone is mostly pretty laid-back, the stakes aren't terribly high, and overall, the game is just very fun and cartoony.
