Great show and very interesting. However to make it more relatable for non-super hot eaters, they need to do a better job of disclosing what peppers are being consumed and the approximate heat levels. This could be accomplished by graphics on screen. Post production effects would help greatly.
I've grown super hots and have been destroyed by them in my quest for a great hot sauce line, but ultimately opted for flavor over extreme heat. I wanted accessibility for most people that enjoy a healthy burn without requiring massive pain. This show is about the punishment. Please make it more relatable!

I had never heard of the superhot pepper community, before watching this series. I found the series very interesting, and what a cast of characters! You got your choice of the down South Louisiana pepper grower, Troy Primeaux ( of the 7 pot primo pepper fame), your UK/Brit lady Waheen "the Queen" of superhot pepper eating competitions, she's won about 100...despite not even liking peppers. Then, there's the sweet newbie Aurea the Chilipino sweetie in Chicago, and the paranoid pepper grower Jimmy Pickles who is so paranoid of people stilling his pepper seeds, he guards all his peppers like a prison guard.
I could keep going on this show, but you need to watch it yourself to see the ongoing pepper saga.

This show is amazing & gives such great light to the spicy community! A community that I am not in myself as I don't eat anything spicier than buffalo chicken dip! But I have a brother & his friends he made along the way of doing spicy challenges in this series that do. It really gives information that most people do not know, some I didn't know myself until I watched.
The pain is real. The information is real. The people are real! Nothing in the series was fabricated or fake like most series are. I was blessed to witness first hand a few of these crazy, amazing people eat peppers & spicy items in person without the cameras. It's the same on camera & off camera. It's a crazy sight to see but at the end of the day they love to entertain & some love to just be spicy! Great series I hope there is more coming!

As a big Chilli head, and competitor, I couldn't help but smile while watching this series.
The people involved in this show have made such a big impact on my life it's unreal. Shahina, Paul, Johnny, Goot, and all of the amazing people in the background are my family now.
This show finally gives a look into some of our lives, and a little idea of why we do what we do.
From planting the seeds, to the picking of the rip pods, to the cooking/experimenting with those pods, to the competitions and aftermath of those competitions.
It all mushes together to make something incredible.
Being a competitor then seeing this play out on TV is just incredible! I hope there is more seasons to follow, because this 10 episode series was just the top of the iceberg!
Love you all, The Scoville Unit
PS I don't regret cramping on a bathroom floor for 2.5 hrs, or showing my butt crack 🤣.

I have grown a plethora of peppers for 9 years, including superhots, and have been a part of the Global Chili Community and a professional League of Fire pepper eating athlete for over 4 years. Brian Skope and his team went above and beyond to share with the world the multifaceted dimensions of the pepper community. The videography is amazing. There is a bit of a Hollywood spin in the series. But the people are real, the pepper eating completions are real, The growers and product producers are legit. It will tug on your heart strings to hear the stories of the main players. I would have loved to hear more of Shahina Waseem's (the UK Chilli Queen's) back story. But I binge watched the whole thing...and I'm watching currently watching it a second time. I loved the Superhot series and appreciate the time and care that was dedicated to making this show to give the world a glimpse into our unique, creative, competitive, and loving community...and include the science behind it. Phenomenal!!!

The show is so much fun to watch and about such an unusual subject that really piqued our interest! The interwoven storylines that focus on the pepper eaters, the sauce makers and the pepper growers works sooooo well! The way they all link together and continuously entertained us was impressive.
This will be enjoyed by everybody, not just those people who already understand the world of peppers and hot food!
The production and creative expertise is top-notch. The director and the professionals who made this are at the top of their field, evidently.
The cast were real and that was very endearing.
10 out of 10! Highly recommended!

A "documentary" of sorts follow the world of super hot peppers and more specifically a small handful of periphery individuals of that world. Narrated by Ben Schwartz, the series primarily follows the story of Johnny Scoville, an internet personality and very spicy eater on his quest to find the pepper that can finally overtake the (at the time*) Guiness world records hottest pepper: the carolina reaper. While touching the surface of the pepper growing world and the business of pepper production, the series more focuses on a few random individuals in the hot pepper eating scene and quickly turns much more something like My Strange Addiction or Jackass than it does an informative documentary. Essentially watching grown adults torture themselves, I would have been much more interested in the supposed cutthroat industry behind the peppers, and the hidden giant behind the scenes of "Smokin' Ed Currie, creator of the current hottest pepper and a bit of a pepper mob boss, although he doesn't make a single appearance and barely gets a name mention until the very end. In fact, there's hints of industry bullying around different pepper seeds and protection of strains, which in my opinion would have been way more interesting to learn about than watching a competitor destroy their insides for the 100th time or some near conspiracy theorist talk about the secret strain he grows in his backyard. Some subplots focus multiple episodes on "pepper influencers" only to find out upon googling that these people have maybe in the low 1000s of followers on like a Facebook page. I was hoping for a behind the scenes of the quickly exploding pepper empire but instead got something not much better than whats on TLC. Wouldn't likely recommend.

Okay, here's my take on this:
(For what it's worth, a close friend of mine is a competitive eater in the spice world, and I have mistakenly tried to keep up with hot challenges on more than one occasion, so maybe this speaks more to me than the average viewer.)
As far as personalities, I think they chose the perfect people to represent this subculture! This is such a fun watch.
From a knowledge standpoint, I feel like I did learn a LOT about the pepper community from this, and it never felt like a lecture. I had briefly experienced this culture, but only tangentially. I love the opportunity presented here and I can only hope for more as this series continues.
I'll take an extra bite from my Carolina Reaper jerky and look forward to a follow up series! Cheers.

This series is a nice look at the surface of the community I've had the privilege of being part of for the past 6 years. I personally know some of the people in this show and have interacted with most of the rest. They definitely showcased the broaded veiw of the community, so i hope the can dive deeper into the groups and what we like to do on a daily. We really are a family. I hope they continue to show more of this world to people outside and allow some of the misinformation that's out there to be corrected. I'm hoping for
more seasons because there is so much more to show of the community and alot more people deserving of mention. Good job Hulu.
I've been fully immersed in the spicy universe for what feels like an eternity, juggling my own online spicy empire, managing YouTube and TikTok channels, and mixing it up with chili enthusiasts in the virtual realm of Facebook. Believe me when I say, I've witnessed it all - from the mouthwateringly delicious, to the disastrously fiery, and even the outrageously absurd, and I've collected enough spicy battle scars to prove it!
Now, let's dive into this "SUPERHOT" spectacle. It's like watching someone afflicted with a severe case of "EGOMANIC-itis." I mean, my figurative lightbulb nearly exploded from the sheer absurdity of it all! These individuals seem to hunger for the spotlight more than a cat in a room filled with laser pointers. And once they find themselves bathed in that glare, they spin tales like politicians in an unending campaign season.
To be perfectly transparent, my presence in this spicy circus is more prominent than Johnny Scoville, also known as Chase the Heat. No, I'm not Brian Ambs, Roger from the HOT DANG SHOW, or Spicycam - I prefer to remain a clandestine spicy operative to dodge the chili community's cancellation crusaders.
In my humble, yet spicy opinion, they should seriously consider rebranding this show as "Chasing the Heat: EGOMANIC-itis."
You see, I've had the privilege of getting to know Johnny Scoville, Shahina Waseem, Mike Jack, Goot from Texas Hot Spot, and the rest of the crew, and let me tell you, they're masters of transformation, especially Johnny Scoville. What you witness on SUPERHOT is more choreographed than a Shakespearean play, and the acting is about as subtle as a black pepper sneeze. It's basically one giant spicy comedy performance! This SUPERHOT is heading down the wrong spice road, leading viewers astray. They should've hired a detective before hitting the record button. If you're craving a taste of the genuine spicy world, hop onto Facebook and join some spicy communities - I guarantee you'll fall into a rabbit hole spicier than a Pepper X.
Here's to crossing our fingers for a season two of Superheat! They should expand their horizons and bring in some bona fide chiliheads and bona fide sauce maestros! Heck, throw in a bit of drama, like shaking a jar filled with red and black ants. Now, that's what I'd call a REAL SHOW!
As for my SUPERHOT rating, it's a modest 3.5/10 stars. It was okay, but it left out enough real spicy drama to make a ghost pepper blush and break a sweat!

...what a show! I'm an amateur grower of other people's seeds, I have little interest in 'finding' my own strain, but it was amazing to see the world of the people who are dedicated to finding that next killer-hot variety of chilli.
Production value was great, top notch watch. The characters they chose to follow were diverse and really interesting. The storylines were captivating. The narrator (or script writer) had a great sense of humour and kept the episodes flowing nicely.
I can't but give this a 10/10, best entertainment I've had in a long time. Really hoping there's a season two, I'll be there with my next harvest of chillies 🙂

Addictive viewing (excuse the pun)!
The UK Chili Queen was awesome. Troy Primeaux came across as such a great guy. Johnny is a star. We need to keep following the Pepper People!
Bravo on such a great fun series!
The new couple were so charming. I feel like there must be so much more to delve into and really feel like I know them. Actually I watched it with my housemates and we did two big binge sessions!
The way the show is edited and filmed feels really polished and creative. Some of the peoples reactions to the peppers are hilarious. We really had no idea about this subculture or that there was a sporting association established just for chile Heads!

I recently subscribed to hulu and heard about this on radio. I thought it was a cooking show though!
I was pleasantly surprised. It was such an unusual series for me. I had no knowledge of spicy Peppers and had no idea it was such a 'thing'!
I ended up feeling like I wanted to get to know the characters who had me and my teenager son glued to the screen.
I actually wanna grow some Peppers this year and if I ever get a chance I'm thinking about trying a contest hehe
I recommend this as easy, fun viewing that feels oddly familiar and comforting even if you are not a 'Pepper Person'. There are no spoilers here, but you MUST watch the boxing match part!

An amazing show filled with fascinating, passionate people on a variety of quests surrounding the humble (or maybe not so humble) chilli pepper. Growers, hot sauce makers, competitive chilli eaters, you name it, it's all covered. Feels to me from watching this that the world is on the cusp of a revolution much like the one craft ale went on. The best is clearly yet to come but there is so much more out there than I ever realised before watching this show, I guess the revolution has already begun! And with the featured unsung heroes starting to make a name for themselves, we are clearly in safe hands for whatever comes next! A particular favourite storyline of mine is the incredible achievements of Shahina Waseem (UK Chilli Queen) as we watch her on her path to an incredible 100 undefeated streak of winning chilli-eating competitions - an absolute living legend - can'twait to see what comes next for her! And who can't be blown away by the charm of heat-chasing Johnny Scoville who helps weave the narrative across the season. Watching this show is an absolute must for any chilli lover, but also anyone interested in people and how far they are willing to go to achieve their dreams! I really hope there is a second season so we can all see what happens next in this weird and wonderful world!
A great look at a colorful world I know through the a Chili-head friend . I particularly liked its examination of an internet driven culture and economy; both the perils and potential rewards. Little guys can be big winners with something they feel passion for and make friends around the world or, fall victim to the endless churn of internet rumor and malice.
I hope there is a second season because there are a lot more stories to tell. Would like to know more about what drives the UK Chili Queen, and see more range of Chili culture. As interesting as the drug/ alcohol addiction recovery link is, there are many other reasons that unique characters are drawn to spice.

If you want to see vomiting in at least 6 episodes and see fakes in the world of chiles go for it. It does not truly reflect the spicy culinary subculture. I have been involved with the Agricultural and Culinary chile industry almost 20 years and most of this is a waste of my life to watch. There are a handful of credible people in it. I feel bad that they lowered their standards to be part of this. Watch Crazy Hot the Film on Amazon if you want to see the real world of chiles. If you like seeing people trying to eat as much hot stuff as possible pushing their limits then you might enjoy it. But you can see lots of fireeaters on youtube for free to do that!

This is not an accurate representation of the chili community. The main character is portrayed as an honest and likeable individual, and that is just not the way it is. He is not a "legend" or even the biggest chili eater on YouTube. Also, his name is not "Johnny Scoville." The winning pepper, the 7 Pot Primo, is NOT the world's hottest pepper. The host, your "Chili Kingmaker" has repeatedly stated on his YouTube channel that the Primotalii is the hottest pepper he's ever eaten. The people involved in this show are mostly a bunch of sycophants looking for fame. Don't waste your time watching this. Luckily I only watched the 10th episode. I hope they don't make a second season of this show. The best part of this show coming out has been watching all the people in the chili community who think they should have had a larger role in this or been featured, backstabbing and hating-on each other quietly while publicly feigning support of each other. Complete garbage.
