A local association promoting movie making in the Dordogne region claimed that for this movie, Quentin Dupieux shot "the longest tracking shot in the history of cinema".
The production was kept a complete secret during the whole shoot. The aerodrome owner didn't even know that Vincent Lindon had been present. Léa Seydoux revealed a month after shooting that she had just spent two weeks on Quentin Dupieux's latest production, and that's how everyone found out about it.
Opening film at the 77th Cannes Film Festival.
The movie was filmed entirely in the Dordogne department in the South-West of France, in less than three weeks in December 2023. It was shot primarily at the aerodrome of Condat-sur-Vézère. The restaurant is an existing airfield building, and the landing strip was disguised to give it the appearance of a lost highway.
The working title was "À notre beau métier" ("To our beautiful craft").
