Having finally met Weol, Queen Yun Bo Gyeong begins to go mad believing Yeon Wu has returned from the dead. (Yeon Wu notes that this is not the reaction of a friend.) Prince Yang Myeong Gun (finally recognizing Weol as Yeon Wu) confronts his brother, the King, over His Majesty's inability to either let go of others or protect them. King Hwon only knows that Chief Shaman figures prominently in Yeon Wu's death and summons her. Before meeting the King, Shaman Jang tells Yeon Wu of the betrayal of a friend in cursing her - a clever involvement by their enemies to insure that harms befalls allies of the King if revealed. Heeding Yeon Wu's wishes, Shaman Jang lies to the King, and later to Queen Dowager Jung Hui, who, hearing of the King's meeting, wants details. Only King Hwon hears the message hidden in Nok Yeong's indirect answers. As Investigator Heong questions Yeom about his sister's death, the fact of Seol's presence at many points in the investigation leads Hwon to reason that Yeon Wu is Weon and alive. Meanwhile, as the Queen's madness worsens, Princess Min Hwa's long-standing guilt just about consumes her.
