Family members explain how their grandmother overcame the terrible loss of her children to rebuild her life. Today the family still place flowers on their grave. Michael Buerk investigates the importance of morale during the Blitz and tells how wild rumours began to circulate as Liverpool suffered from 8 straight days of bombing. He looks at the impact of the bombing on the city's population. The programme wraps up with an epilogue on the fate of all the characters. Highlights include Dr Leonard Findlay's award of the George Cross. The production uncovered the witness statements of his bravery. His son sees them for the first time and reads them on camera in an emotionally charged end to the series.
